Episode 013: The (C)alculating Region: The Process Oriented, Methodical and Timeline-Based Thinkers that are an Integral Part of Your Team

Episode 013: The (C)alculating Region: The Process Oriented, Methodical and Timeline-Based Thinkers that are an Integral Part of Your Team

In this episode, we break down the "C" region.
This group will read the terms and conditions! When they know they're right, they will be very direct. When they ask questions, they are not challenging you, it is just that they want to be clear about the process or because something is not making sense to them. They want to understand as much of the details as possible to make sure they didn't miss anything. They want to streamline practices and processes. Check out the episode breakdown and Ricoism's below:
    Timestamps
    00:00 Intro
00:20 Breaking down the Calculating Region
    03:30 How to spot a "C"
    04:46 How a "C" saved Mr. Rico's Job
07:09 The Client Nation Summarized in 40 Seconds
    08:06 Here's how a "C" would buy a car
08:45 Why "C's" ask so many questions
14:40 How to motivate and manage a "C"
21:14 "C's" can be hard on themselves, here's how to help them
    23:38 Outro
    Today's Ricoisms
Those in the Calculating Region are:
    organized
    planners
    detail oriented
    fact based
    methodical
    critical thinkers
To motivate C's, give them clear directions, describe the routines and do NOT change the process last minute. They like predictability and a timeline with a clear end goal. Give them time to think! Make them a part of your quality control team. They can be hard on themselves, especially if they don't meet their goals or deadlines. So if you want to help them, compliment the work they have done instead of the people that they are.
    Pace: Reserved
    Priority: Task Oriented

Episode 012: The (S)teady Team Member- The secret weapon most organizations don’t realize they have

In this episode we talk about the secret weapon most organizations don't even realize they have thereby costing them millions of dollars by not taking advantage of it.
    The Steady region
The S can help cultures thrive, create robust performance and build long term client loyalty that delivers constant revenue.
Steady's are highly valuable team members that seek deep relationships through building trust and loyalty.
They are very empathetic and help sustain client relationships after the Dominants and Interactives begin those relationships. We go over the importance of recognizing your own communication blind spots and how to effectively lead and communicate with a team member who lives in the Steady Region.

01:56 The Steady Region's Pace and Priority
02:55 How Mr. Rico initially got interested in Behavioral Types and personalities
06:04 The Importance of recognizing your Communication Blind spots
08:47 Learning how to Motivate and Lead Someone in the Steady Region
21:07 Opposites Attract? Can you re frame communicating well with Steady's as a challenge for Dominants?
    22:33 Outro
    Today's Ricoisms
The Steady Region's Pace and Priority:
    Pace: Slow
    Priority: People
"S's" are people oriented but prefer a one-on-one relationship

They value deep relationships fueled by trust and loyalty

"Seek to understand BEFORE being understood"

Just because S's want to take their time and be more supportive does not make them unintelligent, lazy or incapable. Their strength is their ability to put others first. They are the ones who have the ability to clean up the messes that the D's and I's leave behind

This ability to always put others first can also be a detriment
S's are more observant than vocal
This leads to one of their blind spots being putting too much on their plate out of fear of letting anyone down
This leads to high levels of burnout if pushed to the extreme

S's are great clients! If you show them that they can trust you, they will stick with you for the long-run

Under stress: S's get stubborn or go quiet

If something threatens the balance of their lives, they will try hard to stop that from happening

They may also shut down in a high stress team environment so that they don't "rock the boat."

Steady's seek balance and predictability- this helps them relax and unwind and also work as effectively as they can professionally
