The Power to Choose Love The KOKOBÉRNA Podcast

    • Fashion & Beauty

In this episode of The KOKOBÉRNA Podcast series, host Belinda Kokoeka Bassey Ephraim of KOKOBÉRNA discusses the idea that there is power in choosing to walk away from the seat at the table; that by walking away, we choose love as the way forward; and in so doing, we each individually unite as a global collective with the purpose to use our talents and serve for the highest good of all involved.

The KOKOBÉRNA Podcast is a weekly series hosted by Belinda Kokoeka Bassey Ephraim Founder and CEO of KOKOBÉRNA.COM - a contemporary West African beauty and heritage company. It is a chance to make a difference, to transcend mediocrity in the beauty business. A different kind of podcast that is 100% organically handmade. It is at the heart of my work in making change that I am proud of. We will discuss all things women, beauty, business, spirituality, meditation, and holistic well-being, among many other topics including social issues. No guests, no fancy production, and yes, I’ll be answering your questions about each episode, submitted by leaving a voice message
Our emblematic collection of skin care products are available in our online shop at kokoberna.com. 5% of every sale goes to charities dedicated to uplifting the next generation of women across all areas of life. Shop Today.
If we want to see the change we wish to see in the world, we must start inside, with ourselves. We must start with love. We must continue to challenge ourselves, and our community, to be better listeners and better advocates for one another. When you see or witness an injustice, no matter how slight, say something; speak up. Understanding leads to true empathy, true love, and right action. No more microaggressions*. No more “racism or inequality doesn’t exist” statements.
Together, we must ACTION. Let’s do better TOGETHER. The time is now. Becoming a better ally begins with making a long-term commitment to educating yourself on the dynamic realities marginalized people face. We are sharing this guide for those with social privilege to understand the wide range of ways to use that privilege to help marginalized communities, with resources from articles to charitable causes to guide that journey—wherever you may be.
This personal growth work is ongoing, and difficult, yet necessary to create a world where everyone truly belongs and prosperous. My hope is that through navigating this guide and reflecting on your reality, it will become easier for you to see, and believe, and say that #alllivesmatter and that #blacklivesmatter too. Activisim and Allyship Guide and a list of anti-racism resources
