As they explore the work of J. R. R. Tolkien, hosts Alan Sisto and Shawn E. Marchese welcome readers of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, and the other works in the Middle-earth legendarium to tune in as they discuss favorite passages from the books and films that started the worldwide fantasy phenomenon.

Alan and Shawn engage in plenty of in-depth study of Tolkien's books, but with a healthy dose of self-effacing humor, pop-culture references, and bad puns. These are the two guys you'd want to hang out with at a pub and talk Tolkien with.

Stupendous hosts

I always love the nerdy sidebars because it’s exactly the way I think. Get out of my head, you guys! It’s getting crowded in there! Alan and Shawn are both such great conversationalists which makes it all the more better. Don’t skip this podcast!

Of the Coming of Simon into the Podcast

I cave. I can no longer ignore your desperate pleas to leave a review having heard your interview with Simon Tolkien. Both of you managed to contain some manner of composure, despite your obvious excitement. Thank you for allowing him to discuss his excellent book before descending on him like Glaurung to get the inside scoop on his grandfather. PS: I enjoy your nerdy banter. PPS: If not all dragons had wings, is it conceivable that another type of fell creature would not necessarily always have had... oh never mind.
