Episode 414. Move Past From Trauma into the Healing Vortex with Katie Silcox

Fear is a natural and biological response to stressful events. Contrary to popular notion, feeling afraid can be very helpful. It can protect us from danger and ensure our survival. However, we sometimes fall into the rabbit hole of fixating on our unhealthy fears. It reels us into a dark space and hinders us from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

In this episode, Katie Silcox talks about the relevance of fear in our lives and its potential to help us with our growth. She also discusses our obsession with the trauma vortex and how it hinders us from moving into the healing vortex, where safety and security are present. Finally, she shares her thoughts about toxic positivity and how it differs from authentic love and light.
If you are on a spiritual journey to eliminate fear and trauma in your life, this episode is for you!

    Episode Highlights
    The Importance of Fear
●There is no concept of good or bad in the tantric cosmology of reality. There are only useful and unuseful ways toward our goals.
●We define our goals in life.
●Not all fears are unhealthy. Fear is a part of our physiology and has a purpose.
●Since yoga and meditation did not get to the roots of her fears, Katie spent five years understanding how the nervous system functions and unraveling trauma from it.
    The Trauma and Healing Vortex
●The trauma vortex reels you into a dark space when you are about to see the light.
●The healing vortex allows us to feel safe and at ease. It happens when the body receives information through the 16 proprioceptive senses.
●Mass media keeps us in the trauma vortex. It shuts down our prefrontal cortex, preventing us from taking in new information.
●Feed yourself information that conveys truth.
    Fear Porn
●Having an unhealthy relationship with our phones leads us to live in a state of fear.
●We sometimes try to outdo the tragic situation of another person. Rosie calls this “tragedy porn.”
●Mass media made us desensitized and overstimulated in all facets of our lives.
    Satiate Your Ancestors
●Satiate yourself by satiating your ancestors.
●Our circumstances are not unique to us. It’s a seven-generation experience that wasn't realized. Listen to the full episode to hear how this was confirmed by a mice experiment!
●We live in a time of abundance, yet we still carry the original trauma of our ancestors.
●Focusing on what’s wrong around us is embedded deeper into our neurophysiology, and it rewires our ancient trauma.
●We are hyper-aware of society’s problems because of...

The fall eventually isolates us from the spiritual realm. While reconnecting with our spirit may seem impossible, getting back on track begins with something as easy as quieting your mind. Once you regain your presence, you can invite the spirit in and awaken your inner master.
In this episode, best-selling author Agapi Stassinopoulos gives a sneak peek of her latest book, Speaking With Spirit. Agapi discusses her experience of writing the book amid the pandemic and how it called her to practice. She also reveals how we can find our rhythm and invite our spirit in. Episode 412. #WisdomWednesdays: How To Respond When You Don’t Feel The Same Kind Of Love

Falling in love is undoubtedly one of the best feelings in the world. It makes our heart flutter and the butterflies in our stomachs dance in joy. No matter the age, love is something we all feel, may it be fleeting or long-term. But not all the people we love feel the same way for us and vice versa. Feelings don't always get reciprocated no matter how much we work on them. In this case, what is the proper response for the person on the receiving end of a love confession?
In this episode, Rosie and Tessa talk about the overarching theme of love. They answer a question from a listener on how to respond to someone they don't feel the same way romantically. Furthermore, they talked about when to say "I love you." They highlight the importance of setting boundaries in avoiding asymmetrical relationships. Tessa then shares the details of her love story at the end of the podcast!

●Sheri has a knack for gathering a group of people to do things as a group. She also mentions that she could herd kittens.
●When she was younger, she wasn’t picky about her jobs and took them one after another. She was determined to find a job that could provide stability for her retirement.

Discovering a True Mentor in this Podcast!

Hi Rosie and Tessa- I really love your Wisdom Wednesday conversations and learn so much from you both. As a fellow author I really loved the story you shared in episode 403 about finding mentors and integrating wisdom. I’m currently finishing up the manuscript for my second book and what you shared about the dream of writing a book vs the reality of it is so true. I also loved what you shared about finding that neutral place bc it was only when I achieved neutrality that I finally manifested my second book deal after two+ years of trying and over 15 rejections. Oh and I also wanted to share that Jeanne Faulkner is my writing coach too and I adore her!! What a small world!! Thank you so so much for this podcast and for always showing up as a student of life. I appreciate you and the wisdom you share so very much. With gratitude, Rachael Cohen (@infinitesucculent)
