The Handmaid's Tale takes place in a version of the United States that’s ruled by a religious authoritarian regime obsessed with making as many babies as possible. And now it's been adapted to a TV show that critics are literally raving about.

The Red Center is a podcast from The Outline about that show. Each week, hosts Laura June and Rose Eveleth discuss the most recent episode of The Handmaid's Tale through the lens of a specific topic, like motherhood, race, politics, crime, or the book the show is based on.

Good show

I do like the material that you both discuss. However can you please stop saying “Right?” After almost each statement you make. It’s almost so distracting/annoying that I can’t keep listening. Please just take this as constructive criticism. Thanks!

Grating

I want to like this podcast - I think that the idea behind it is great. However, it is hard to listen to. Like, every word is "like" and I think it makes the 2 hosts sound vapid and grating when they are actually very intelligent and well-read. The "likes" and upspeak and the excessive speed at which they talk really detracts from these important discussions.
