Good Hair Pt 2 The Afro latina
STILL need a break from the election? How about the second part of a conversation about black women's complicated relationship to hair and how its a metaphor for being subjected to standards of beauty they could never meet? Also, how we as a culture have internalized that ideal and oppress our own daughters? ONLY THIS TIME from an Afro Latina perspective? Today we talk to beautician and NuYorican Christina Mineo about her journey to reclaim beauty from an Afro Latina lens

Just a Thought
Writing this as a white, male, Christian who probably disagrees with y’all on a bunch of secondary issues:
I’m like 4 or 5 episodes in and wanted to say that there are parts of the podcast that really make me think in ways that I have not before. For this, and for y’all’s honesty, and y’all’s willingness to share your experiences, I am very thankful. Y’all are providing an important perspective.
However, on a quick other note: do y’all ever take a step back and listen to all of what you’re saying, or have someone who does not agree with y’all listen to it? I’m in the middle of the “Managing Yt Pipo” episode now, and while there are certainly important takeaways, a lot of what y’all are saying and how y’all are saying it comes across as very similar to what you probably despise the most from people of a different skin color.
Just my opinion, I will probably continue to listen regardless to keep expanding my horizon.
Great podcast! Doc and Prop!
The good Doc and prop set a table, invite you to sit, and break it down. I’ve been challenged and enjoyed each episode.
I am white, just a mix of Irish, Swedish, German, and others, my wife is half Irish half Puerto Rican. She woke me up to this issue of “white Christianity” and listening to y’all has been even more eye opening and is blowing my mind how much I’ve been missing. Definitely appreciate y’all’s conversations and insight!!
