Great information needs production tweaks for audio volume

Everything is great but sometimes the audio is not good. Especially when they play recording the balance and volume should be corrected. Same for some of the guests who are not really radio speech experienced. When listening in the car there needs to be constant volume manipulation to hear everything.

Fired up by Rocket Ranch

I grew up in Florida during the Shuttle Program and I’m not the only one to wonder what’s left now at Kennedy Space Center. Turns out, A LOT! Great to hear about all the cool stuff NASA is working on in the Sunshine State on the Space Coast. Keep em coming!

Info from Kennedy Space Center in a show with room to grow

This new show adds a new perspective to NASA’s growing collection of information-rich podcasts. It’s still new, so it’s a little rough around the edges—mostly sound and editing issues. Distracting sound effects and inconsistent levels detract from the overall experience. Hopefully they’ll refine over time (and maybe just eliminate the loud “whomp” stinger that seems out if place in this show).

Also: did I miss the explainer? I’ve been a space junkie for years, but I didn’t know until a recent tour from a Kennedy retiree that they refer to the Canaveral as the Rocket Ranch. Seems like an inside joke that most new listers wouldn’t be in on.

Bottom line: I’ve learned new stuff with the episodes that are out so far, but I hope it improves over time. Right now it feel a little like the podcast equivalent of a PowerPoint deck with too much clip-art.
