RSP #48 - Autonomy is the Precursor of Genius with Rohan Stevenson | I Built The Sky

I may not be the best interviewer, but I feel like I do alright most of the time. This week's interview with an absolute legend, Rohan Stevenson of I Built The Sky, was one where I fought tooth and nail to stay in the conversation. Not because Rohan but because of a little thing called the Moderna shot. Yes, I got a Coronavirus injection before the interview and well... I felt like crap.

Rohan was not only amazingly kind and professional, but he withstood my rambles, so i beg this of you as well. The new acoustic record and the new collaboration records are coming out in the near future. Rohan wasn't able to give specifics, but if you're listening to this show, you know his music is epic, cinematic, and just about as good as perfect gets. In other words, we are in for a treat. ....and if Dave Grohl or Tom Delonge is listening, you're dream collaboration awaits.

I will say nothing else, but encourage you to listen to this fun roaming conversation with an absolute guitar master, Rohan Stevenson from I built the Sky on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

RSP #47 - Physical Beauty and Musical Turmoil with Josh Graham | IIVII | Neurosis | A Storm of Light

Josh Graham creates soundscape masterworks. He's one of the most successful audio and visual composers ever, racking up relationships with the most influential musicians and filmmakers in the world.

Josh currently resides in the pacific northwest, which gives him a head start on so many simply due to the geography. The world here is lush but complicated, just like his music.

When Josh isn't writing the latest soundscape, he's working fiercely to create visual tapestries and tone poems. He's the real deal and it was my honor to host him on my show.

Let his music inspire, confuse, and ingratiate you. This is Josh Graham of IIVII on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

RSP #46 - The Mythical Battle in the Heavenly Realm with Patrik Lindgren | Thyrfing

Thyrfing is a legendary Swedish metal band, and they have created something new. After decades of performing various versions of their catalog as well as keeping the Norse myths alive in full force, Thyrfing has made a significant change.

There are new members and new sounds. New tales are being told. New webs are being spun. The sagas and the mythology remain but the sound is fresh. Check out the new record, Vanagandr, and enjoy the mesmerizing brutality. You'll love it. Trust me.

Please enjoy this interview with a real legend in the Viking and Pagan Metal subgenre. This is Patrik Lindgren of Thyrfing, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

RSP #45 - The Texas Sharpshooter Theory with Jason Blake | Aziola Cry

Artists are known far and wide as being unintentional narcissists. To be fair, I include myself in this definition, as I'm a creative as well. When I heard I was going to be interviewing Jason Blake from Aziola Cry, I was worried because I loved the music so much that I feared all I would do is make it clear that if their drummer ever died in a bizarre gardening accident, that I'd be the perfect fit to replace him.

Fortunately, Jason laughed that stuff off and kept me on point as an interviewer. The beauty of this particular interview is that we got to talk about all sorts of things that make guys like us tick, yet the conversation stayed attainable enough for the musical newbie to enjoy what Jason and his bandmates have to offer.

the new album, the Ironic Divide, is available now and worth every red cent you can throw at it. As you're my faithful listeners, I implore you to purchase it today. The links to the band's social media and record label are included in the notes below.

Thanks for letting me ramble a little extra today and please enjoy my chat with the master of the Warr Guitar, Jason Blake of Aziola Cry, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

RSP #44 - The Beloved Sound of Obliteration with Frontierer

RSP #44 - The Beloved Sound of Obliteration with Frontierer

I've spent the past few days trying to figure out the appropriate words to describe Frontierer, the band, the music, and these 2 souls, Pedram and Calum. Given that it's taken me so long to form my words might give you insight into exactly what makes Frontierer so epic.

If you listen to the radio, or love traditional pop music, there's an extremely good chance you have never heard of them or would even care to. However, if you're like me, and you're always looking around the corner to find the next thing, or if you're already listening to challenging mathematic metal and noise, well... Frontierer might the best thing you already love and understand.

My conversation with Pedram and Calum left me wanting more, and I hope this interview touches you the same way. I say it a lot, but I will tell you this one was pure joy. What a killer duo and what a sensation the band is. You must check out the new documentary entitled "A trail of Noise," and you should pay careful attention to the new music releases because they'll change your life, whether you want them to or not.

This is my interview with the groundbreaking... make that ground destroying Frontierer, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

    Time Codes:

1:40 The appropriate way to interview Frontierer
4:30 Pedram is 100% in control of songwriting

45:20 The expense of touring and wishing for more
50:00 The hospitality of promotion and being welcomed as you go
53:30 Who would Frontierer tour with in a perfect scenario

RSP #43 - The Leading Edge of the Storm with Caskets

RSP #43 - The Leading Edge of the Storm with Caskets

Matt Flood and Chris McIntosh are 2 of the 5 members of Caskets, a musical force of nature from Leeds in the UK.

I had the opportunity to connect with these kind guys as they are starting the promotional rollout for their major label debut on Sharp Tone Records. The new record, Lost Souls, drops on August 13th and I admit I'm pretty excited about it.

The guys were super cool, put up with all my fanboy action, and gave you, the listener, great insight into who they are, their writing process, and what it feels like when the record business comes crashing around them, both the good parts and not so good parts.

If I wasn't clear before, yeah... I'm definitely digging these guys. They take the best parts of their influences, and filter it through modern technology along with impeccably prepared arrangements to create lush soundscapes pierced by amazing vocals of the highest caliber. This is Caskets, complete and fully formed, ready to take on the world.

I promise you'll enjoy listening to this interview as much as I did doing it. This is my conversational flow with Matt Flood and Chris McIntosh from Caskets, the post hardcore promise of the future, on the Rockstar Superhero Podcast.

Sayaka Tsubaki ,

Fun show!

This is my favorite of the two shows. It sounds like he changed the format a bit too. Hopefully it will continue and get even bigger. I just subscribed to both. I don’t know what happened to the show before. I was reminded that has been around since 2016. He just needs new theme music. It distracts me.
