The Row Show

Everyone watches the Olympics and it is easy to appreciate the level of skill of any athlete competing there but it is hard to understand the journey each athlete has taken to get there by just watching their final performance. We are going to look at the behind the scenes stuff and try understand the years of work and dedication, the Glory and the Hardships an athlete endures to have a chance at standing on the greatest sporting stage in the World.

I never miss an episode of the row show. The interviews contain a depth of thought, preparation, and insight that you won’t find on other podcasts, rowing-related or otherwise. Give it a listen.
A gift to passionate rowing fans

If you’re a fan of elite international rowing, this podcast is required listening. The hosts Lawrence and Jake happen to be Olympians, but that’s not a requirement to feel a part of the community. Far from it, as I can attest as a 50-year-old rower whose greatest accomplishment on my university club team was driving the team van during the Dad Vail regatta in Philadelphia. Lawrence and Jake make a great crew, balancing and complementing each other’s skills and knowledge to hit a perfect blend of entertaining and informative. They’re simultaneously lighthearted and good natured, while taking the subject matter as serious as any coach or athlete I can think of. You feel their passion with every question they ask or statement they make. Also, they have a hefty dose of respect for the history and future of rowing. Btw, they produce this podcast while they train full time! This year, 2021, the podcast has really hit its stride with the regularity and professionalism of episodes. I’ve enjoyed the podcast from the beginning but must say they’ve taken it to another level this year. The sound quality was always good but is exceptional this year. As a rower who’s very interested in technique, I particularly love that the interviews don’t shy away from technical details in favor of trying to be everything to every rower, but that’s not to say that you need to be at the elite level to enjoy the content. Like a good book, you can revisit episodes and find that you hear new things and nuances as your knowledge and experience grows. While we all might not be Olympic-level rowers, we can all strive to be our best and enjoy rowing as much as if we were. If that’s you, look no further! This show is all heart.
