The Roy Harper Podcast

A very enjoyable podcast. Produced by a knowledgeable long-time fan, it is full of enthusiasm but also very relaxed in style. The down-to-earth tone and homemade feel seems to suit it's subject: the mercurial Mr Harper, whose music I am personally new to. Sometimes the best way to get into a new artist is to listen to a good mate talk and play you choice stuff: this is the podcast equivalent.

I've feel like I'm finally catching up on what's happened to Roy Harper after 30 years of missing his music on big US commercial radio. I searched record store cut-out bins for a long time because he doesn't fit the mold of big business. Finally found the rest of Roy's playlist on his own website. Roy Harper is the uniquely talented singer/songwriter that comes along so rarely -- playing guitar and composing his songs from start to finish, singing with a voice that hits notes few ever dream of, and avoiding crass commercialism. He is the complete artist, writing lyrics that are true art even before the music. Podcast host Paul Davison is the ideal, polite English host, introducing neophytes to the STORMCOCK world and Forum while satisfying the die-hard fan with the politically explicit nature of ROY HARPER's creativity! This is an incredible Podcast. Paul Davison gives an enjoyable in-depth view of Roy Harper's music with a warm casual style. Full of amazing music and informative interviews, this one is an absolute treasure.

Also is great to listen to if you're a fan already. I was hoping to be the first one to review you here Paul, but someone has beat me to it! Anyhow, it's great to get a bit of English Culture by listening to the podcast. Here, across the pond, I feel so far removed from the english ways that seem so familiar to me... perhaps lived there in another life? Who knows.
