Briana Ford: Live Authentically on Purpose

Are you living in your authentic truth? This week, we take you in a different direction focused more on self rather than just tech. It is also a special episode because I had the pleasure to interview a fellow Cornellian and boss, Brianna Ford. Briana gives insights through her journey to live your authentic life.

Brianna has a background in business dating back to her days at Cornell University, SC Johnson College of Business. From there she pursued a career in investment banking at SunTrust, obtaining her series licenses. The story she tells this week is one that is all too familiar to us; we fall into the career we thought we wanted, only to realize it’s not our passion nor purpose.

It was while she was in the midst of trying to build a career in investment banking that she came to the realization that she was neither living her truth nor fulfilling her purpose. She made the bold decision and took the leap of faith, leaving the career. She then decided to pursue what she felt was true and authentic to her. She currently works in the nonprofit sector at Urban Alliance, where she has the distinct pleasure of serving as a professional development coach to young people across the city of Chicago, Illinois. She is passionate about community revitalization and thoughtful mentoring.

For the young woman starting out in her career or who is unsure of the path or the young woman of color who is currently in a career that is lackluster and is contemplating a change, this one is definitely for you and you do not want to miss it!

Briana has some great insights and introspection on living in line with your purpose and authenticity. Please tune in to The Rozy Effect for more.

Rakesh Dhawan: The Emotionally Connected Tech Leader

Rakesh Dhawan: The Emotionally Connected Tech Leader

This week's episode of The Rozy Effect takes on a different type of conversation in relation to the world of technology. We take a look into the emotional side of it.

How do we feel when we are investing and learning through technologies and if you’re an entrepreneur, building these tech companies?

How are the decisions really being made when it comes to getting consumers and investors to buy into the technology being produced?

We had the opportunity to connect with Rakesh Dhawan. Rakesh has extensive experience creating high-tech companies in industrial, commercial, and consumer industries. He is an expert in crystallizing go-to-market strategies while building scalable, repeatable marketing, and product development business models. He is the visionary behind the electrical bike technology, and current President and CEO of Falco E-motors.

Rakesh has a very different view and approach to technology than most tech leaders today. He approaches the topic of Obsolete leaders in tech and paints for us the picture of leaders having the ability to set up teams to be more independent. How?  Allow them access to all information necessary, to execute initiatives and projects related to a company. Rakesh demonstrates the possibilities of implementing such a thing as well as the success that comes with it. He also believes in tapping into your emotions as you are developing technology as an entrepreneur.

In our conversation, Rakesh goes into how emotions play into the aspect of digital transformation. Through his entrepreneurial journey, he has always looked for opportunities to make a difference in business and has delivered results in that realm by tuning into his emotions.

To all tech enthusiasts and tech entrepreneurs, this one is specifically for you!  Please tune in this week as we dive into technology as it relates to emotion and the positive effects of leadership obsolescence through technology.

    Happy listening!

Noelle Silver: Creating Opportunities Through Technology

Noelle Silver: Creating Opportunities Through Technology

I need you to think back 15 years ago. How did you perceive the world of technology? Did you see it evolving into the core and forefront of our everyday lives? Are you interested in or are already building a career in tech? If so, is  your career taking the path you envisioned? Are you feeling stuck or disillusioned by where you currently are or where to start in your career journey in tech. If any of these questions are lingering within your mind or resonates with you then you NEED to tune in this week for our interview with Noelle Silver, technology evangelist extraordinaire and the current VP of Solutions Architecture at ElectrifiAI.

During our interview, we go deep into many topics surrounding tech. One of them being how impactful technology has been throughout our everyday lives. Technology has allowed so many other industries to thrive. (Think e-commerce!) Did you imagine 15 years ago that voice technology would even be a thing much less a normal part of our everyday lives and now we have voice commands on our phones and Amazon’s very own Alexa.

We also delve into the value of data. When you think about your data do you ever wonder about the importance of it and how that data can be used for the purpose of good and even bad? Do you ever consider what it means to give companies access to your data in exchange for convenience? These are important questions to consider and ones that we go into.

We also dig into the age old question of diversity as it relates to the tech industry. There is no secret that there is a huge lack of diversity in the technology field. Many of those creating the products that are leading in the field only look like a specific group. That in itself is a huge issue because how can you expect for everyone to be included if they are not even represented in the implementation process of a tech product? Well Noelle has some great insight in the field and as the work that can be done to solve the diversity problem in tech.

We also dive into Noelle's work as a multi-award winning technology leader who specializes in conversational AI and Voice technology, Intelligent Apps and Agents and Responsible AI practices. Although her current  role is VP solution architect at ElectrifiAI, she has lead teams at NPR, Microsoft, and Amazon, and is the Founder of #Lovefluencers and the AI Leadership Institute. Her passion for mindful leadership, work-life harmony and empowering people to achieve their potential is a driving force behind her success. She was recently awarded the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award for Artificial Intelligence and is an influencer in Voice and AI globally.

Daria Burke: Achieving Leadership Goals Despite Race and Gender

Daria Burke: Achieving Leadership Goals Despite Race and Gender

“Shoes won’t change the world, but the women who wear them will.”

As women, we do have a lot of power packed within us and one such woman is marketing powerhouse Daria Burke, Ad Age 2020 Woman to Watch and Chief Marketing Officer of JustFab, the online shoe retailer. She is responsible for the global brand awareness and positioning of the brand as well as overseeing all marketing functions across all channels and geographics. Prior to JustFab, Daria spent years building iconic fashion and beauty brands through innovative marketing initiatives.

This week on The Rozy Effect, we had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking with Daria Burke. During our sit down, one of the topics we discussed was the intersection of beauty and technology from the consumer’s perspective. We discussed internal culture and digital transformation in the beauty industry, what it looks like and how it can be repositioned. Technology has affected the way we reach out to consumers, and more importantly, there are 3 key factors that will determine if any business that has undergone digital transformation will be successful or not.

Daria has seen herself at the core front of working hand in hand with the data science and media measurement team in her organization to ensure that their marketing initiatives leverage the latest consumer analytics, trends and other insights. She has been discharging her duty effectively for over 2 years working at the organization, so there is no better leader than Daria to discuss this topic with.

We also discussed leadership through digital transformation and the effect of the sheltering during the covid19 pandemic, understanding consumer needs, and effectively discharging leadership roles that highlights well-being and maintains excellent standards.

You don’t want to miss the conversation with Daria on this week’s episode of “Achieving leadership goals despite race and gender” Tune in for some of Daria's insight!
