Love this podcast!!

This podcast is the best! It’s a living encyclopedia and a snapshot into the glory days of NASCAR. Steve Waid and Rick Houston are masters at their life’s craft, and it’s a joy to hear interviews with such celebrated icons of racing that thrilled us as fans over the past seventy years. Gotta give this a listen!

Nostalgia

As a historian, I love hearing Steve Waid’s quote at the beginning of every podcast. I moved recently and now have a longer commute so I am going back one interview at a time and love the stories and the reviews of the old issues of Scene. Keep up the great work. I’m guessing since there are 2000+ issues, I can look forward to 1940+ more episodes.

Link to NASCAR and family

Growing up, my grandmother was a subscriber to the scene for as long as it was in existence, always renewing at Dover Downs every year with Chuck who was set up selling subscriptions every race weekend in the 80’s and 90’s. She would get the scene in the mail on Tuesday and have it read by Wednesday, just in time for my father to pick it up and bring it home for the two of us to take turns reading. She was so disappointed when her scene subscription was redirected to Nascar illustrated. Listening to the podcast has allow me to relive the stories she shared with me growing up and the personalities I was lucky enough to meet going to races so young. It is also so nice to be able to chat about the podcast with my dad, as Steve Waid says in the opening to the show, the day we forget Nascars past is the day it has no future.

Thanks Rick and Steve
