    We had the great pleasure of having a good friend of ours join us on todays podcast. The founder of Los Rukos apparel and protector of our awesome town Mr. Eric Castillo! In this episode, we speak about Eric's journey, a tad on his career, gym life, and what inspired him along the way to chase excellence. We also touch up on how the brand was created, his challenges and thought process, and how he has been able to grow the brand into what it is today. He is a very knowledgeable individual who provides us with a different perspective when it comes to mental toughness and shares some tips with us. The Challenge has been running this local weight loss encouragement for 14 years and HARDKNOX strength and performance has had the pleasure of being apart of it for 9 years. This is a huge honor for us and we are glad to be a host gym for our community for the next 4 months! Rod speaks on how he has seen the 956 participation grow over the last couple of years and expresses his gratitude towards Brownsville's initiative on wellness. We also give some tips for the new comers and what they can do to help boost them into their fitness journey with more confidence. Big HUG y'all ! Take care and enjoy :)

    Takeaways from UT clinic (Coach Rod & Coach Max)

    Episode 64! 

    The UT sports performance clinic was super fun! We traveled up with the team to Atx to learn more about our field and get another perspective from some high level individuals. This was such a great experience for our team to see what else is out there and what other coaches are doing with there clients/athletes. The strength and conditioning world is so broad and there is so much information out there now, we may sometimes get confused or second guess ourselves, leading us to stick to what we know and become fearful of trying new things. Going to these clinics helps us coaches approach the exercise world from a different angle bringing new opportunities to light. So, BIG  SHOUTOUT TO UT for hosting ! We appreciate the hospitality :)

    As we wrap up this year with episode 62, we reflected on how the year went for us, what we learned, and what we will be doing in 2023. With January days away there will be tons of individuals ready to make changes. These new year resolution's can go from making dietary changes, saving more money, making more money, becoming more aware, etc. We emphasize that taking action is more important than talking about it. We can dream BIG but if we do not ACT we will never achieve what we truly desire. This talk inspired both us and hope it does the same for y'all.

    We got a little fired up on this topic! We caught ourselves talking about programming and asked ourselves this question..is it important for coaches to do the gym programming? Yes. Coaches who participate in the gym programming can relate to the clients better, feel the stimulus of the workout and coach it better, relate to the soreness, find strategies to help members, learn modifications, the list can go on. If you want to get better as a coach, be about the programming. In this episode, we get into a conversation where we speak on this topic and give tips along the way.  Hope y'all enjoy!
