Invaluable. Ingenious.

This vitally alive and impossibly fantastic podcast shares an entire new musical being performed live by the best actors and actresses working today. It’s not just a glimpse into process in appetizer form, it’s a full-on feast because you get it all exactly as if you were there. I kind of can’t believe it exists, but now that it does, I hope it’s here to stay.

I stumbled upon this podcast and I couldn't be more excited about it! For all of us who follow New Musical Theater Writers by scrolling YouTube for clips of concerts and praying for concept albums, getting to hear the full score with complete context is such a gift! I've been listening to songs from Darling (the first episode) for years but never really understood how the songs fit until this Podcast. Similarly, I've loved Nick Blaemire's music for a while but I never knew "A Litte More Alive" existed and so far I'm loving it. This Podcast is a godsend and I hope it continues for years to come!

The first episode is great

When I first started discovering Ryan Scott Oliver’s music on YouTube, it changed the way I viewed the contemporary musical. I loved the more contemporary music that had all of these elements of jazz harmony in them that echo older styles. Specifically Dull Little Ache and Song of the Dead Fairy stick with me with how powerful the music could be. I’m a big fan of other RSO works, but episode one gave me the opportunity to finally hear the full story, music and lyrics for Darling, which I’m so grateful for. The show is enthralling and I can see what would happen onstage. The opportunity to hear the full score allowed me to learn so much from how music can come back in various impactful ways and the interviews with Ryan Scott Oliver gave so much meaning to the thought behind it and the process. As a writer/composer, who is working on a large project as a solo book writer, composer/lyricist, it is incredible to hear the music and at the same time hear the creator talk about the show. It very much taught me and made me further fall in love with Darling. Hope there are more to come. -Will Morrison
