We hope listening in to our discussions revolving around church, theology, and culture will feel like slowing down and hanging with friends.     194 - Love Where You Live

    Do Christians have a responsibility to serve their neighbors? The verse Jeremiah 29:7 calls God’s people to seek the peace and prosperity of the city—to pray for it, to care about it, and to invest in it.   To live this out, Seacoast launched "Love Where You Live” in March to create intentionality around serving people in our communities. It isn’t a one-time event, but rather an initiative to create a culture around loving the people in the communities where God has placed us. Listeners will hear from Local Missions Pastor, Jen Cameron, and three Seacoasters who share their stories about how they’ve made "loving where they live" a lifestyle.     192 - The Last Plane Out of Afghanistan

    [Seacoast Podcast is now on Instagram] On August 30, 2021, Lt Col Alex Pelbath commanded the final U.S. Air Force C-17 aircraft that departed Kabul, Afghanistan. The exit closed out 20 years of conflict and played a key role in the historic evacuation. Alex reflects on the infamous day that Americans watched on TV, as many Afghans lost their lives while attempting to escape with the plane.   Host Joey Svendsen and former Navy Commander and CIA Operations Officer, Mark Merritt, join Alex for a candid conversation on military ethics and to discuss what they believe is a healthy way for society to view the brave men and women in uniform.     189 - An Encounter With Heaven with Pastor David Scarlett 

    At a young age, Pastor David Scarlett of His Glory Ministries had achieved success, financial stability, and had a promising future—yet when his marriage began to fall apart, his accomplishments offered little comfort. This crisis pushed him to seek a deeper, more authentic faith in Jesus.  Later in life, Pastor David suffered a severe case of botulism after eating a chili dog—an event he says led to his death and a vivid encounter with heaven. Though only five minutes had passed in the hospital room, he describes what felt like days in heaven, and says he saw Jesus standing at the foot of his bed before returning to his body.     [REBOOT]: Irene Rollins: Overcoming Addiction and Reframing Shame

    [In honor of Black History Month, we're highlighting some past conversations recorded with some former guests with diverse experiences] Addiction hurts those who struggle as well as those who love the one doing the battling. Irene Rollins shares how her alcohol addiction almost cost her everything  most dear to her. This story and what she's learned on her journey is the foundation of her book Reframe Your Shame: Experience Freedom from What Holds You Back. If you struggle with addiction, you are loved, and as long as there's breath in your lungs, your story can be redeemed.  With Lynne Stroy, Tomelex Copeland, and Joey Svendsen contributing to the conversation with Irene, the four also discuss the nature of women being competitive with one another; they talk about whether they have a special trust in businesses who claim to have Christian owners and navigate whether it's ever too late to bring up a grievance to one who has offended.   Irene Rollins is a certified emotional intelligence coach; she loves to study human behavior, enabling her to understand a wide variety of people and guide them to be the best version of themselves through her teaching, writing, and coaching. After almost twenty-five years in full-time ministry, serving as Senior Pastors of a thriving church called i5 City, Irene and her husband Jimmy felt a shift in their ministry focus. Irene and Jimmy founded the ministry of TWO = ONE with a mission to help build strong marriages that result in healthy families that impact our communities for the better.     Culture appears more inclusive than ever—from commercials featuring people with disabilities to news anchors who don’t fit outdated beauty standards. But is this genuine social progress or savvy branding designed to boost profits? With this topic at hand, Joey, Jack, and Lynne explore whether corporate generosity is heartfelt or image driven.  Along the way, they reflect on the chaos of COVID-19 and the unique challenges large churches like Seacoast Church faced.  The three also speculate about liberal and conservative mindsets and discuss if the “watch out for the victim” approach to living was initiated by Christian beliefs.  In light-hearted fashion, Joey also finds out that Jack and Lynne are not his friends.
