The Self-ish Latina podcast uses a creative storytelling approach that gets under the hood on how Latinx culture, family, and society shape our beliefs and behaviors around who we think we are, what we believe is possible and ultimately, discovering where we belong.
Behind The Scenes: How I Crafted A Message Of Belonging During A Global Pandemic
I'm "pulling back the curtain" as they say on my crafting a keynote process with hopes that you will be inspired by the beautiful and often messy process it is to create a brand new message from and idea to a real live speech.
And The Band Played On: Finding Joy In A Global Pandemic
Meet Paul Romaine, my neighbor and Founder of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts and leader of the band "Please Stay Away" who played their hearts out night-after-night during the toughest part of the 2020 quarantine - the part that felt like it would never end.
Our whole neighborhood came out every night, fold up chairs in hand, 6 feet apart and allowed themselves to experience joy through music which carried just enough hope with it to last us another day.
Alone But Not Lonely
This episode was inspired by a vm message that Rita Bautista, Founder of the Latina Podcasters Network left us at the beginning of the quarantine.
She shared, “I’m alone, but I’m not lonely.”
“You can’t live in that space forever. As a community, we can come out of these times more united than ever!”
Her words ring even more true now as the country has come face to face with the aftermath of the murders of George Floyd, Brionna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others.
Love in the Time of Covid
We asked about the power of love in the time of COVID and how you have shown love to friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, or even strangers. We thought we would hear stories about romance, or even random acts of kindness - we learned that love is much more. Love is about speaking your truth, listening to others, and giving. Meet Ana, an entrepreneur we had the pleasuring of speaking to discuss her love story –– a story about how she speaks her truth while living with depression.
