Interview with Jen Gileno, author of Finding Happiness Book

Jen Gileno is happily married with two kids, a 1st time author and manager at a toy company in Canada. Her book Finding Happiness is a book about hope, healing from narcissism, bullying and recovering from childhood trauma. She shares personal stories of what it’s like to be raised by a mother who is suspected to have narcissistic personality disorder in the hopes that it helps others. It’s hard sharing stories as we’ve been taught not to talk about these subjects and that everything that we experienced is our fault. Her hope is that by sharing her stories plus her healing tactics, it will inspire others to know that they are not alone and start the path the healing.

To thank the Lets Get Your Shift Together followers, she is offering a chance to win a free copy of the book! The 1st 5 people to DM her at @finding_happiness_book will receive a free copy. In case you don’t win, she is offering a coupon code SHIFTTOGETHER until Aug 31 to get the book for $9.95 + shipping. Visit www.findinghappinessbook.ca to order.

Feeling guilty after setting a boundary? Listen to this!

Feeling guilty after setting a boundary? Listen to this!

This is the audio from a livestream I did on Instagram recently.

In this live I speak about how it’s normal to feel guilty after setting boundaries. It literally means you’re human. It doesn’t mean you made a mistake or you’re wrong or a horrible person or whatever. It literally means you are considering the other persons feelings - so congrats you are not a narcissist or sociopath 😊

In this audio I discuss what to do with that feeling of guilt.

Also remember: a healthy person will have no issue with you setting a boundary. A toxic or narcissistic person will. Your clue is the reaction to you setting a boundary. A negative reaction is a sign that this boundary should’ve been set yesterday and that you’re dealing with a selfish, toxic person and you don’t need to keep people like that in your life (even if it’s family)!

How to trust yourself to be in a healthy relationship after narcissistic abuse

How to trust yourself to be in a healthy relationship after narcissistic abuse

This was a live I did on Instagram where I talk about how you can trust yourself to be in a healthy relationship after being with a narcissist.
Awareness of the abuse and patterns are the first step. The abuse was not your fault. The narcissist manipulated you into thinking you were soulmates. They come on strong on purpose. Be wary of this in any future people you date. Always be suspicious when they come on strong. Consistency in the relationship is important.
Emotional expression is ultimately the way to heal. Follow me on Instagram if you're not already @letsgetyourshifttogether

Destructing the idea of "family" when it's time to disengage.

Destructing the idea of "family" when it's time to disengage.

Here is my livestream from Instagram last night if anyone missed it! The topic was destructing the idea of "family" when it's time to disengage.  Family is not everything for everyone. If you've been part of a narcissistic household, were raised by narcissists, or have been abused by your family of origin, know this: it's still abuse even if it's family. If you wouldn't accept that type of treatment from a random stranger, what makes it ok coming from family? "Because it's family"? That's just not a good excuse for abuse. You don't have to deal with keeping your dysfunctional family happy at the cost of your mental health just because society says you have to. It's ok to go your own way. You don't have to sit there and take abuse just because you share DNA strands with certain people. Your mental health is more important than the idea of family.

It's possible to heal from having a dysfunctional or narcissistic family. I am proof of this and this is why I am here spreading the knowledge. To work with me 1:1 or join my digital course, check out the links below.

The disclaimer I can't believe I have to write every time I post something like this: if your family is not dysfunctional, that is nice, this video does not apply to you, and I am happy for you. I am also not sure how or why you follow this page if you are coming here to tell me that your family isn't like that.
