She said what?! One was raised on a church pew in the south, the other on the wrong side of the tracks. Together this unlikely duo hashes out the complexities and quandaries of life while slapping a little Jesus on it. Does her sweet tea need a little vodka or is it the other way around? Hurricanes, Corpses, and Cuss Words
Sometimes we walk away from God and knowingly dive into sin; Other times, we are stuck in an addiction that we cannot control.
How do we overcome these things?
Do Christians have different standards?
Can we out sin God's grace?
In Jer. 51:1-5 we see the two sides of God - Vengeful & Loving all in one . . .
He talks of whipping up a death-dealing hurricane to clean up Babylon, declaring it will be littered with streets of corpses and total destruction . .. .
Then, in verse 5 says: As their God, God -of-the-Angel-Armies, I am still alive and well, committed to them even though They filled their land with sin against Israel’s most Holy God.
Even though they have stopped following God, He warns them to run for their lives to save them from His vengeance for their sins.
Sometimes we are called to share the "unpopular" truth, and boy does it have it's ramifications! But it's in those times that we see people's true colors. And I don't know about you, but I'd rather be stuck in the mud instead of walking with the enemy!
As they say, "Never question who God removes from your life. He heard the conversations when you weren't around."
Whether it’s happening now or happened in the past, what situation did you feel as if you had been left behind in the mud? Were you angry at God, yourself, or others?
Jeremiah 38:4-6 MSG
These officials told the king, “Please, kill this man. He’s got to go! He’s ruining the resolve of the soldiers who are still left in the city, as well as the people themselves, by spreading these words. This man isn’t looking after the good of this people. He’s trying to ruin us!”
King Zedekiah caved in: “If you say so. Go ahead, handle it your way. You’re too much for me.”
So they took Jeremiah and threw him into the cistern of the king’s son. They lowered him down with ropes. There wasn’t any water in the cistern, only mud. Jeremiah sank into the mud.
Feel The Burn
Cowbells, airhorns, and predict-a-pens is how we're rolling these days.
Luckily, the world doesn't rest on our shoulders!
WARNING: Before you "share a message from God" with someone, you must LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE! Because God deals harshly with false prophets!
Also, if you've ever needed a reason to say "no"...this one's for you.
Jeremiah 20:7-10 (MSG)
Is it hard for you to tell God exactly how you are feeling? Have you ever complained about what God has called you to do in your life?
You are not alone!
Today we discuss the fact that following God isn't all rainbows & butterflies, and share some of our own hiccups we've experienced along the way.
Don't forget to go back & listen to "The Big Kahuna"!
The days are dark and long, how are we supposed to respond to a world that is spinning out of control?
Today we talk about the things God laments over and how we can serve in our specific arena; guilt free, knowing God has not called us to handle everything on our own.
There are so many needs; we, alone, CANNOT meet them all! Fortunately, we serve a mighty God who can.
Revelation 7:17 "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
Bonus: An apology for all of the bone-headed things Christians say and do. 🥂
1 Samuel 24 - David could have killed King Saul in the cave when he on a bathroom break, but didn’t
Genesis 22 - God provided the Ram so Abraham didn’t have sacrifice his son Issac
Exodus 2 - After hiding Moses for 3 months and unable to hid him anymore, he is put in a papyrus basket and placed in the river to be kept safe from being killed with all the other males babies
Acts 12 - we rejoice at Peter’s near miss of being executed by Herod and his deliverance, but in that same chapter his fellow disciple James was beheaded.
