Sistah Girls, I'm so excited to have Deesha Dyer on the podcast! Without credentials, connections, or a college degree, a hip-hop journalist and community leader conquered her imposter syndrome while landing one of the most exclusive, sought-after, and fun positions in the White House.From, 2015 to 2017 Dyer served as the White House Social Secretary for the Obama administration. While at the White House, Dyer followed Obama's wishes and opened up the most popular house in the world to everyday people. She infused Black culture and created some of the most memorable events in U.S. history. Now, with a new company and a new outlook on work and life, Deesha has added author to her name. Her memoir Undiplomatic: How My Attitude Created the Best Kind of Trouble is a story that reminds everyone that it's not where you start but how you finish. 

In 2006 Miasha released her debut novel Secret Society, that story had publishing companies in a bidding war. In 2021, Coleman turned her book series into a film, she did it independently and it was a hit.In this interview, Miasha takes us on her journey from an aspiring author to getting her first six-figure deal and then bringing that project to the big screen independently. Sis, If you’ve ever wanted to write a book or bring your book to the big screen this interview is for you. Jemele Hill is celebrating the paperback release of her memoir Uphill. Released on October 25, 2022, Hill pulled back the curtain and allowed fans to get a glimpse of what her journey has been like through her own lens. She dived deep into her childhood and shared what her experience was like growing up in an environment where both her parents were drug addicts. We also get to walk with her as she ascends to nab the most coveted position in sports journalism–a job at ESPN. I got the chance to talk to Hill about her memoir and all the details that most people wouldn't know if they didn't read the book.
