Failing Does Not Mean You're a Failure

Failing Does Not Mean You're a Failure

As solopreneurs and small business owners, it’s easy to identify ourselves based on the successes - and failures - of our business. As the leader - the public face - for our organizations, when our business hits a rough patch, our team makes a mistake, or we lose a client, we often internalize our business failures, feeling as if we have failed on a personal level.

But… just because your business has hit a rough patch, that doesn’t mean you have failed as an individual. It’s simply part of your journey to success.

On today’s episode, I explain why making mistakes and failing does not mean you have failed. I explain the importance of viewing your mistakes and failures as lessons to learn and grow as an individual and an entrepreneur. I also explain why it’s important for entrepreneurs to experience mistakes and failures while growing their businesses and how to turn your business failures into winning experiences.

“There’s really no such thing as failure in business; just some mistakes are more expensive than others.” - Melinda Emerson

This week on the SmallBizChat Podcast:
Viewing your business failures as lessons to be learned
Mistakes I’ve made throughout my entrepreneurial journey
Why your future success has nothing to do with the mistakes you made in the past
How to position yourself to move beyond your mistakes
Why it’s important for entrepreneurs to make mistakes and experience failures
Lessons we can learn about mistakes and failure from Oprah Winfrey
Using mistakes and failures as a learning experience for yourself and your team

Your SmallBizChat Action Point for the Week:

Okay. You had a major setback. It happens - so what!!! Give yourself a day, maybe even a few days to be sad. Then, learn the lesson and keep moving.
