Inspiring Podcast

Paul Steenhuisen’s podcasts are such gems for new music lovers - I am not a musician myself yet I enjoy these podcasts tremendously as they reveal the creative process of composers and the context within which their music emerges. Each interview is unique, fun and insightful and leaves me feeling like I have met one of today’s music creators. For example the interview with the wonderful Ana Sokolovic. Paul does a great job framing her musical history while letting her express her creative world in her own voice. It’s a treat to listen to these two talk shop, music and creation, and it reminded me why I love new music so much. So thank you!

Something a little different

If you want a little more depth, authority, seriousness and some recherché composers (and topics) covered intelligently and sensitively by someone who really knows his modern music, Paul Steenhuisen’s Soundlab is a very good place to start. There aren’t many such podcast series, unfortunately; long may this one continue!

Smart interviews

Just discovered this podcast and I am impressed. The interviews are insightful, researched and not superficial like most online new music content. Plus the "audio footnotes" are great. The Wuorinen interview, the Carter interview - really well done.
