    Vic's Basement Brewcast: Meyers Lighthouse Brewery and Mini-Golf

    Meyers Brewing Company opened in 2021 in the Fishtown area of Philly and in a few short years has become part of the fabric of the trendy neighborhood. Owner Mike Meyers aims to bring the same sense of fun and community to the Jersey Shore with the soon to open Meyers Lighthouse Brewery and Mini Golf in Ocean View. Vic, Richard, and Tom took the trip down to Cape May County’s newest brewery to speak with Mike and head brewer Andrew Swanson. The guys discussed the Meyers Brewery history, plans for the new location and what beers we may see on tap for the projected Memorial Day weekend opening.     A podcast 3 years in the making! Vic finally gets Jeff from Heavy Reel Brewing Companyand Zach from  Gusto Brewing Companydown in the basement. Head brewers Greg and Dan join the group along with Tom and Richard. We talk about the history and growth of both breweries, some of their newest beers, perfect pours and what happens when a beer doesn’t come out as planned. We also get into a conversation about Pork Roll/Taylor Ham (Editor's note: it is clearly pork roll, taylor ham is blasphemy), haunted breweries and mysterious ice cream stands. Like Ozzy a little off the rails, but the train arrives safely.

    Happy New Year and welcome to our first show of 2024.  We have something a little different on tap for the new year.  Manafirkin hosted a Singer/Songwriter showcase last month and Vic had the opportunity to interview several of the musicians before the show as well Todd Hunt, co owner of the brewery.  So instead of hearing about yeast and mash tuns, you’ll hear about Fenders and Martins and sound systems.  Thanks for listening hope you enjoy it!

    Pinelands Brewing Co is one of the OG craft breweries in Ocean County, brewing great beer for almost 10 years. Vic, Richard/James and Tom are joined by PBC partners Mike Broderson and Robert Shay.     Vic and Richard venture out of the basement  and are joined by Tom as they visit Jason Campbell at Slack Tide Brewing Company’s new location.  The crew is also joined by legendary beer writer, Mark Haynie and Slack Tide Social Media Coordinator Rachel Sill.   The conversation runs the gamut, as they discuss GABF in Denver (Vic met his brew hero, Sam Calgione), restraining orders and  Jason shares his experience of winning a GABF medal for Avalon Amber in 2018.         We also discuss the new expanded brewery, while Rachel shares some upcoming events happening at Slack Tide.        Curiously we finish on the subject of UFOs once again and the gang commits to a future podcast at Mark’s place, ETs welcome!
