La Liga as it lives
Almost all the La Liga coverage available in the English-speaking world feels like it looks in from the outside, looking at La Liga with a Premier League or MLS lens. Phil and Sid give something refreshingly different, partly because they live there and live it, and also because they’re good at translating not only the differences in the game but also the culture in which the game is played. A listen I look forward to every week.
Bueno, pero…
As Barça are wallowing in mediocrity and Madrid are middling with an aging team but backing into winning a lackluster league I am listening to the pod less. The two Madrid based journos try to hide their bias but they seem to rejoice in Barça incompetence and slurp the average, what they were Madrid veterans, and Asensio for some reason. Y como se mojan por Vinicius.
Love the Thumbnail
At first I thought it was a couple of hitmen in dark glasses. Then I realized it was a few Spanish football podcasts heavies. What the difference really? On a serious note I love the pod. I have one beef and it’s probably a crap thing to say because I don’t know if it can actually be changed but if something could be done in production it would be huge. Once you notice it you can’t un-notice it. When Phil speaks there always seems to be a slurring almost whistling inhaling deeply thru his teeth type of a sound. It’s like nails on a chalkboard
