    Episode 156

Countless sexual abuse victims are not safe in their own homes. Over 60% of sexual abuse survivors are abused by someone related to them in their home. When the majority of abuse happens by a close family member or friend, how can we ensure our homes are safe for our children.

One of the most traumatic things for a child is to have the safety of their own home stripped from them. Many adult survivors of abuse still live in constant anxiety and fear when they enter their own homes because of the abuse they endured in their homes as children. This should never be. It certainly shouldn't be the norm.

In this episode, we offer some practical things to check to help ensure children are safer in our home. There is no fail safe method to keep them safe all the time, but we can certainly do better. We NEED to do better.

The number of school teachers sexually abusing students is rising in virtually every state. An estimated 10% of students will experience school employee sexual misconduct by the time they graduate high school. Episode 152: People Who Should Be Well Trained to Prevent Abuse (But Mostly Aren't)

Do you ever wonder how abuse has become such an epidemic? The statistics are getting worse instead of better. In this episode, we highlight 5 categories of people who should be the best trained to recognize and prevent abuse, including doctors and nurses, yet either lack adequate training or have no training at all.

There is no uniform training or requirements for training in these fields, even though abuse is still rampant. What are some other areas that we didn't mention? We'd love to hear your thoughts.
