The Wine Shutter Chelsea Erica Smith

The Wine Shutter Chelsea Erica Smith

Chelsea grew up in a small town outside of Portland, Oregon, then ventured to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue life, liberty, and old school country music. She finds purpose in growing and establishing meaningful communities, educating and speaking on freelancing & entrepreneurship, as well as writing- both with her keyboard and with her guitar.
Chelsea believes in the power of stoicism and maintaining a mentality that daily challenges happen for you; to shape you and mold you into a better, brighter person. She’s devoted to helping educate others on how to build, grow, and maintain their solo business. She’s a storyteller, a studier of art & culture, and a lover of all things travel. In 2021, she reviewed and partnered with 50+ luxury hotels and restaurants in over 14 states with The Wine Shutter. She’ll be hosting the first large industry-exclusive event ELEVATE, in Nashville August, 26th-28th, 2022.

This solo-preneur got her start with photography at age 7, taking photos of friends on the playground at recess. She then learned “the dark room” at age 12, while attending the Vancouver School for the Arts & Academics. Chelsea started “charging” for taking high school portraits at age 16 and got the business license for Urban Bay that same year. Chelsea has shot over 200 weddings worldwide, her favorite destination being Monterosso, Italy in Cinque Terre.

When Chelsea moved to Nashville in April of 2022, she started a booming photoshoot networking event & community for up-and-coming musicians that saw over $60k profit its first year. In the first six months, Nash Bash Collective has now gained over 100 established members.

Chelsea’s biggest passion is writing. Her book, Calling Cold, has been a passion project that has been years in the making and is set to release Summer of 2023. The work-book is packed with action-oriented advice, raw stories of sales & pitching, as well as ideas on how to live a purpose driven life as an entrepreneur.

    Ken of Unwine101

    Ken of Unwine101

I'm Ken Pettus. I reside & work in New York City as a consultant for the biggest wine portfolio in the world. I'm a WSET certified wine & spirits educator and enthusiast. I've been in the wine & spirits industry for over a decade now. I'm a product of my Jamaican + Black American parents. My experiences as a Black man in the wine industry has its share of stories. My journey in wine started living in Europe, being exposed and captivated by wine culture. After moving back to NY, I began building my foundation of knowledge in one of the biggest wine stores in Queens, NY, tasting every red, white & rose wine on a daily basis to develop my palate as much as possible. I managed a multimillion dollar internet wine selling e-commerce business growing from shipping just 5 cases the first week to 100 cases a day in just 2 years.

During Covid, I was fortunate to partner with a few wine enthusiasts and professionals and hosted Sunday Wine Club on Clubhouse. It became the biggest wine and spirits room on Clubhouse, where enthusiasts, wine makers, or just the curious customers could all interact. Whether it was wine knowledge or people who wanted to learn more about the industry & and hear about experiences, Every Sunday you never knew who would pop in. Rob Mondavi, Donae Burston, and other winemakers and professionals would give access into their business, their backgrounds and their insight into the future of wine.

Fantastic Podcast

These ladies are knowledgable and a whole lot of fun. They have already hosted some great leaders in the wine industry like André Mack, Carlton McCoy!!, and Ikimi Dubose-Woodson. Sometimes instead of guests, they have hilarious topics like “What kind of Drunk Are You” . They’ve been doing this since 2016, so they have easy and entertaining style. Definitely ladies you’d like to hang with.
