RTLZWEI: Building impactful data products with small data science teams [GER]

Johannes Ehrler (Chief Data & Innovation Officer) and Benjamin Weiss (Lead Data Scientist) from RTLZWEI share their story as to how their Data Science team is driving data product innovation and development with the help of an optimized team setup. The team's data products are typically human-in-the-loop in nature, owned end-to-end by team members and closely aligned with RTLZWEI editors to ensure production value. Johannes and Ben give concrete examples for this approach such as advanced video tagging for efficient short-form content creation (promos, trailers) from long-form video.

Legal basics for blockchain/NFT in Germany [GER]

Legal basics for blockchain/NFT in Germany [GER]

Our tour of the world of Web3 continues. This time we add a legal perspective to our technical view of NFTs by interviewing Steffen Kämper.

Steffen is not only a notary and a lawyer specializing in commercial legal protection, but his long-running private interest in NFTs also makes him the perfect tour guide for introducing tech enthusiasts like ourselves and our audience to the (NFT) legal framework, especially the one in Germany.

The idea for this episode came about at the kitchen table, so to speak. Steffen is Marcus' brother-in-law and there have always been interesting discussions with Steffen that we wanted to make available to a wider audience.

So, what are some important basic legal concepts in the NFT context? What about NFTs and consumer protection? What do I do in the case of incorrectly programmed smart contracts? In the future, will NFT- and crypto-related disputes settled before non-public arbitration courts only? And why are we being led to Lichtenstein at the end of our tour? Listen in!

NFTs in the TV Production Industry

NFTs in the TV Production Industry

Our exploration tour around Web3.0 topics continues. In this episode we talked with JR Griffin - VP Digital Marketing & Business Develoment - from FremantleMedia about their launch of NTFs for the hit show 'American Gods'.

JR shares with us his learnings around NFT i.e. what to look out for when selecting the right media asset for the right audience. But NFTs aren't just necessarily another distribution channel for digital assets, but a way to activate and involve your fanbase with creative approaches that goes beyond NFTs as collectibles.

If you are curious to hear more, just tune in.

AI Testimonials #7 - Vincent Koops - Music AI - Generative AI for audio

AI Testimonials #7 - Vincent Koops - Music AI - Generative AI for audio

We are joined by Vincent Koops. Vincent is a composer and computer scientist with a background in sound design, music composition and artificial intelligence. He holds a PhD in Music Information Retrieval from Utrecht University and is working as a Senior Data Scientist at RTL Netherlands developing AI audiovisual projects for television and video on demand.

Our conversation focuses on generative AI for audio, more specifically, about his generative AI work at RTL Netherlands in general and his music AI work, in particular, as widely popularised by this year's "AI Song Contest", also billed as "Eurovision with a twist", which he co-organized and was a jury member of. The event resulted in a ISMIR 2020 conference paper, which Vincent co-authored. The AI Song Contest 2020, including an interview with Vincent, can still be  viewed on YouTube and was widely reported on in tech news outlets such as The Verge and Engadget.
