The Travel Wins is an interview show with business travelers. Take a listen if you are interested in learning about careers and jobs that require you to travel. It’s not always glamorous but some people just aren’t meant for desk jobs.
I am very fortunate to have interviewed athletes, entertainers and business people from a wide range of industries. Their travels range from weekly to monthly and from interstate to international but we all have to figure out how to balance life on the road.
Find out if you are ready for a career as a road warrior or maybe you’re just a 9 to 5 office person.

    Hernan Sias Business Bros

    Hernan Sias Business Bros

Can you use a podcast to build your business?

Hernan Sias is my guest today. He is one half of the podcasting team Business Bros and a real estate expert in San Diego. He is using the platform of podcasting to build his personal network while learning from his varied guests. He had to convince his brother to originally be a part of the show but now they are 100% into growing their podcast listener base.

“It’s about finding that additional revenue source, because if you’re only dependent on one income stream and that income stream disappears you’re in some deep doo doo.” ~Hernan Sias on why he built his podcast show

While Hernan traveled for his real estate business, the main reason I wanted to chat with him on my show was to hear the how’s and why’s he started his podcast show with his brother and to hear what he thinks of the future of the platform. It’s always great spending time with someone that is positive about their future even while going thru the downsides of the Covid19 lockdown.

    Vanessa Demopoulos Fighter

    Vanessa Demopoulos Fighter

Is it okay to fight like a girl?

That would be a compliment if being compared to this week’s guest, Vanessa Demopoulos. Vanessa is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, jiu jitsu fighter, author and exotic dancer. She has her first pro title fight on July 17 and she is excited about the chance to show her skills at LFA 85 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. One of the subjects we discussed is the differences in her training after switching to the Blackhouse Gym in California from Ohio.

“One of the things with traveling so often and so much is that you meet really cool people all around the country and all around the world and I love being able to stay in touch with them.” ~Vanessa Demopoulos on how she fills her travel downtime

Vanessa was the first professional fighter guest on the show and she was great with sharing her stories and travel experiences. Make sure to check out her upcoming fights and you can watch several of her previous fights on YouTube. It was great meeting and hearing someone being so positive during the lockdown and looking forward to her future.

    Travis Luther Lawfather

    Travis Luther Lawfather

How do you know if you’re ready to be an entrepreneur?

My guest today, Travis Luther, is the president of a media firm, author, speaker and entrepreneur. I’ve met many entrepreneurs in my lifetime but Travis was actually a professor of entrepreneurship for MSU Denver. His company, Law Father, provides case development tools to law firms. Travis also has the experience of playing and touring for his pop-punk band when he was younger.

“There was just something inside me that realized that probably my path out of poverty was going to be entrepreneurship and being my own business owner.” ~Travis Luther

Travis is practicing what he preaches about having multiple business and streams of income. It was great speaking with him and inspiring to hear someone else expanding their existing resources. We are all given the same 24 hours a day. It really shows how some people maximize their days and time. Make sure to check out Travis on his social media accounts and website.

    Michael Sticka GRAMMY

    Michael Sticka GRAMMY

Can the Grammy museum continue to entertain visitors remotely during a lockdown?

My guest today, Michael Sticka, is the President of the Grammy Museum located in Los Angeles. Michael shares how got started with museum and what his travel experiences are for the museum. We talked about what his job duties were before lockdown and how they had to pivot during the lockdown.

“I head to major music centers Austin, Nashville, where a lot of our donors and partners are. I would say most of my travels actually is to New York …. after things open up we’re hoping to be able to actually announce some new programming in that region.” ~Michael Sticka

It’s nice that they can pull from so many available resources to keep visitors excited thru internet based experiences. Like, the museum debuting never before seen digital public programs series. Imagine being able to release new material from Billie Eilish and Finneas, Brandi Carlile, Kool & the Gang, Yola and X Ambassadors on your website.

    Adam Jackson Photog

    Adam Jackson Photog

Turning a hobby in to a career?

Is it possible to turn a hobby you are passionate about into a paying career is a question I am often asked by friends and listeners.

My guest today, Adam Jackson, is on the verge of finding out. Adam’s photography is getting him some recognition he didn’t think possible when he first started his hobby as he traveled the states for his “day job” as a business development manager for environmental systems with a past in engineering. The creative side of his brain is taking some phenomenal landscape and celestial photos. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology you wouldn’t think he would be able to pivot careers into photography but he is learning social media uses for photography and how he can provide value to people that would like to learn and/or appreciate his photography skills.

“Thinking, man, I’ve wasted these opportunities across the nation of all the top spots. I have the luxury of traveling and not everyone gets to do that”. ~ Adam Jackson on why he takes his camera with him everywhere he goes now

He shares his journey from engineer to owning a guitar business, which started his photography, to being paid as a professional photographer and now teaching others how to explore their photography passions. He gets to travel for his “day job” and take the extra time to see and take pictures of the fantastic scenery around us. Make sure to check out and subscribe to Instagram page to learn more about him and his photos.

    Mike Robbins Together

    Mike Robbins Together

Mike Robbins is a public speaker, author, an expert in teamwork and leadership and my guest on today’s podcast. Mike was a suggested guest by my sister who saw him speak a while back in Ojai, California. His career started out as a professional baseball player but then like many athletes he had to pivot his career into a new field after injuries removed him from the game he loved to play. Mike’s background of having to pivot at a young age will prove useful for him and his team as they learn how to be successful operating a public speaking organization during a time when you aren’t allowed to gather or have companies gather for functions.

“Somewhere around 25 events either postponed or cancelled and my new book “We’re All In This Together” just came out, so we had a whole book tour and book events that were scheduled and we had to adjust”. ~ Mike Robbins on how COVID19 affected his business

His fifth and latest book “We’re All In This Together” was titled many months before the lockdown but it is a perfect title for how we had to revisit our purpose and careers as business travelers. We discuss his thoughts on speaking engagements in the future, whether virtual or with social distancing, as well as how his book can help individuals going thru these unprecedented times.
