Why Thrustmaster went direct drive with Xavier Pieuchot | S5 E18
Joining Thomas Harrison-Lord today on this episode is Xavier Pieuchot, Product Marketing Manager at Thrustmaster.
It’s been a big month for the gaming and simulation equipment manufacturer, as its first-ever direct drive wheel base – the T818 – was launched and shipped to its first customers.
Here at Traxion.GG, we were lucky enough to receive one of the first loan units for review. But, we wanted to get deeper under the skin of the T818 and see why the American-French company chose now as the time to enter the increasingly competitive direct drive market, which has quickly become the expected technology for sim racing.
We cover its launch, development process, why it’s manufactured in France and console support.
Is this the most pivotal moment in its 32-year history? Let’s find out…

The future of rally games with Autosport and Motorsport.com’s Tom Howard | S5 E17
On this episode, it’s the festive period, so we hope you are enjoying at least a day off to put your feet up. With this in mind, today’s conversation is a little less formal and a bit more relaxed.
Joining Thomas Harrison-Lord to discuss the future of rally games is Autosport and Motorsport.com’s WRC Editor Tom Howard.
We regale our experiences with the most recent World Rally Championship game, Generations, then look ahead to what we’d like to see in 2023 when EA Sports’ first official WRC game releases.
Tom also recounts the time earlier in the year when he was Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team driver Takamoto Katsuta’s co-driver for a stage in a current Rally1-spec Yaris.
As you can tell, we’re both rally fanatics or bobble-hatters. So, the conversation flows into the rally cars we’d like to see more of in gaming and simulation. You have been warned, we get a bit excited...

Creating Need for Speed Unbound with Criterion’s Kieran Crimmins | S5 E16
We, at Traxion.GG, happen to think Need for Speed Unbound is the best entry in the street-racing series for a generation.
So, we decided that it would be a great idea to speak to someone who helped create it.
Joining Thomas Harrison-Lord this week is Kieran Crimmins, Criterion Games’, and therefore Unbound's, Creative Director.
We discuss why the game isn't on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, where the inspiration for the unique art style came from and how development progressed through Battlefield-related pauses and Codemasters Cheshire's involvement.
You've played Unbound, now hear how it was developed.
Don’t forget you can email podcast@traxion.gg if you have any questions about Need for Speed you’d like us to answer.

Why Williams Esports is about more than just competition | S5 E13
Williams Esports carries the distinction of being Wiliams Racing’s only form of motorsport outside of Formula 1. The team competes in the pinnacle of single-seaters and racing esports. That’s it.
It shows just how intrinsically important virtual racing is to the Grove company, originally founded by Frank Williams in 1977.
Now under Dorilton Capital stewardship, its esports squad is pushing the limits of what’s achievable in sim racing – both in terms of the sheer quantity of events participated, but also driver training, education and media assistance.
It's these three aspects we wanted to dive deeper into. Yes, the team has found success across platforms such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione and even Rocket League, but it’s also investigating new ways of nurturing talent that pushes the whole environment forward.
Joining us for this episode of the Traxion.GG Podcast are:
Seb Hawkins - Team Manager, Williams Esports Steven English - Director of Esports, Williams Racing Ewan Lury - Esports Press Officer, Williams Esports Don’t forget you can email podcast@traxion.gg if you have any questions about sim racing cockpits you’d like us to answer.
