The trick to being mindful on social media

Meditation for the 99% Podcast

To “mindfully” use social media is to stand in front of a train filled with billions of dollars.

Facebook, Instagram, etc., are built to churn out private profit, so they urge you to click, like, and follow as much as humanly possible. The commodity they produce is your attention, which they grab and let go of over and over again.

So, don’t stand in front of the train.

Don’t try to be mindful on Facebook — be mindful enough to put the phone down when you inevitably get bored.
