Genesis 32:24-28

Jacob serves as the archetype of humanity. Scheming, grasping, manipulating, and lying form the building blocks and the way of life. Like Jacob, we need a radical encounter with God that results in receiving the blessing of eternal life and a new identity. Jesus provides opportunity to encounter God. Having paid the price of sin and conquering death, relationship with him provides the gifts of blessing and a new identity.
