All Shop, And No Sex - Part 2

We began a two part tale last time here on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, which looked at an armed robbery in a small post office in a rural North Yorkshire village. The second such robbery in almost a year, in what could have been a carbon copy of the first.

Except this one ended in the brutal murder of the postmistress, Diana Garbutt.

    Or did it?

The tale is courtesy of Jess Carter, host of the Outlines Podcast, and takes us back to 2011, for this part covering the trial of the person police arrested some three weeks after the robbery, a person they firmly suspected of not quite giving a truthful account of that day.

    Her husband, Robin Garbutt.

The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.

All Shop, And No Sex - Part 1

I have the pleasure of bringing you a tale that has had the Outlines treatment, courtesy of Jess Carter, as we head back to March of 2010 this time - and next time around - on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, for a strange tale that for a great deal of it, so many things about it don't add up. It's a controversial case, one that still today divides a community, one that I would imagine will make you stop and think, and perhaps even one that will cause debate.

And it all begins in a rural Post Office, in a North Yorkshire village.

The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, that some listeners may find disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.

    Introducing - Operator

    Introducing - Operator

During the 1-900 number craze of the Nineties, one company provided the vast majority of phone sex. American Telnet was an empire founded by the man who called himself “The Telephone Pimp.” He ran the company “like General Motors” and got filthy rich doing it.

But for the (mostly) women who answered the calls and delivered fantasies 24-7, it was a different story. The powerful stigma against sex work was always lurking just beneath the surface, until it threatened to tear apart the whole company.

Hosted by Tina Horn (Why Are People Into That?), OPERATOR is an eight-part series about big ambitions, Shakespearean-level corporate backstabbing, men and women at the cutting edge of a technological revolution...and on the front lines of a sexual one.

A horrendous and very sad tale comes this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast, a tale where we learn that the ultimate darkness is sometimes never far from the surface...

The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving crimes against children, that some listeners may find offensive, disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.

    Introducing - Shadow Of Truth

    Introducing - Shadow Of Truth

It’s one of the most haunting murder cases you’ll ever hear about, and it takes place in a small town in Israel. Tair Rada was only 13-years-old when her body was found inside a locked bathroom stall. She was viciously murdered during a school day, and yet no one saw or heard a thing. The police arrested the janitor, Roman Zadorov, and he eventually confessed, but this was far from being the end of it.

Based on the hit true-crime series from Netflix, the podcast "Shadow of Truth" will take you on a journey into one of the wildest and most contested murder cases in the history of Israel, as it reaches its final resolution, 15 years after it all started.

We head to the UK county of Derbyshire, and back to the early 1960's, for our tale this time around on The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast. It's a tale that surely should be more familiar than it is, and spans a number of years, even jumps to a different country - and all begins with a crashed "Bubble" car......

The episode contains details and descriptions of crimes and events, involving references to sexual activity and containing references to homophobic slurs that some listeners may find offensive, disturbing, and or upsetting, so discretion is advised whilst listening.

Well researched and well told!

Just found The True Crime Enthusiast podcast yesterday and I have already listened to the first three episodes! It’s a very well researched and presented podcast, the cases are lesser known and the writing well paced. Paul has a natural talent for storytelling. This will be added to my rotation alongside Crime Junkies, Redhanded, and Murder Most Irish.

My favorite podcast

I love The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast. Stories are interesting, well researched, and well written. They are often obscure cases with lots of twists and turns. The host has a perfect storytelling voice and delivery. His personality is a big plus.
