#181: Frances Roen- Fundraising Sol
Frances Roen is a Georgia girl at heart, and has been graciously adopted by beautiful, snowy Minnesota. She is a forty-something daughter, friend, mom, wife, and entrepreneur, and is always on the look-out for a perfectly fried piece of chicken.
Frances is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) with nearly 20 years of experience fundraising, and has raised over $160M for nonprofits across the globe. She holds a Bachelor of Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia, and a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Frances began her career as a first grade teacher in Birmingham, Alabama, then as an
Education Program Coordinator and Corporate Sponsorship Manager at The Bakken Museum in Minneapolis. After three years, Frances left The Bakken Museum to oversee Annual and Major Gifts for Augustana Care Corporation, a $100M health care organization in the Twin Cities. From 2011 to 2019, Frances was the Director of Development and Communications at YouthLink. In this role, she was responsible for raising over $30M in philanthropic giving. Through her work, she oversaw volunteer and communications efforts including an extensive rebrand, managed a successful capital campaign, expanded partnerships, developed signature events, and increased philanthropic investments by nearly 800%.
In 2019, Frances founded Fundraising Sol in an effort to help nonprofit professionals nourish their sols through the joy, connection, and community that a healthy fundraising program can provide. Fundraising Sol operates on the core belief that the health of your team is inextricably linked to the health of your nonprofit.
When Frances isn’t fundraising, she can be found running—very, very slowly—around one of the amazing lakes in the Twin Cities or planning her family’s next adventure.

Working as an orthopedic surgeon, he has watched so many patients suffer from the ill effects of their excess weight that he decided to do something about it. #178: Shirley Billigmeier- Put Eating Back in Order with Innergetics
For more than 50 years, Shirley has been a coach, teacher, author, speaker, and body image specialist helping women, men, teens, and children resolve their issues with food and eating. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Minnesota in 1971 and 1975, respectfully. The author of Inner Eating (Thomas Nelson 1991), she created Innergetics in 1994. Shirley has continued to refine the Innergetics process to make it a much more comprehensive, holistic solution than mindful eating alone. Innergetics offers tools that allow you to take a conscious, structured approach, so that you have more control over when you start and stop eating. Every baby is born knowing how to do this; Innergetics helps us recover that knowledge. Clients who adhere to this simple process not only lose weight but keep it off permanently. And they do it from a sense of abundance and respect for the body, rather than through deprivation and willpower. Innergetics will help you regain the true joy of eating. It will teach you how to tune in to your body and feed it what it needs, each and every time you eat. Shirley’s program is all about choice and respect; she will never tell you what to eat or when (that’s completely up to you). If you wait until you are hungry, you can eat whatever you want! Just this past year she developed an online course to teach the Innergetics Process to a wider audience.
