The Unadulterated BS Podcast has been in existence since 2010 when Brian Dunkel and Stan Griffin had an idea to take their schtick on the road. We’ve gone through a number of co-hosts and changes since that time, but we are still the longest running comedy and pop-culture podcast coming to you from the capital city of Wisconsin. Tune in to laugh. Tune in to cry. Either way, just tune in to The Unadulterated BS Podcast weekly on unadulteratedbs.net.

    It's the Big Show!

    It's the Big Show!

It’s the return of “Big Show” Matt Schafer. With Brian and Melissa, we take a trip down podcast memory lane and tell some more recent tales as well.

    SYNERGY… IT’S STILL A THING

It’s the triumphant return of one of our original co-hosts, “Big Show” Matt Schafer. Instantly, Big Show takes Brian and Melissa to task for our social media following before admitting to skipping out on the “Milk Challenge” owed to our listeners after accumulating 100 Twitter followers. We go down memory lane recalling some of our past mistakes and the high production values that are a hallmark of The Unadulterated BS Podcast.

    MULTI-PLATFORM PODCAST PRODUCTION

“Big Show,” enjoying the trip down memory lane, brings up past sponsors. The list is short. Stories of Brian and Melissa’s wedding take over, including a promise to send out thank you cards. This starts “Big Show” on a rant against cards of all types. Hallmark, beware.

Melissa’s not going to do the milk challenge. It’s not happening. For “Big Show,” that’s all until 2022. That wraps up our trip down memory lane! With only seven episodes to go until our 150th episode, look for some more throwback co-hosts in the coming weeks as we run up to our milestone episode.

Recapping Greg’s Birthday Bus Trip Bash™

Brian and Melissa are joined by Craig, Greg, Beth and Simple Nate for our 2nd Annual recap of Greg’s Birthday Bus Trip Bash™. We’re aware that early on we say this is our 3rd Annual recap, but this is, in fact, only our 2nd Annual. We admit mistakes were made.

    Raiders of the Lost Drunk

Our recap begins as we discuss who was all in attendance, including the oft-mentioned lesbians. We’re still sure Nate does not know their names despite sitting down to break bread with them as a peace offering later during the evening. Things get kicked off this year at Coliseum Bar in Madison, WI each and every year. Despite the trip occurring on St. Patrick’s Day this year, Madison bars seemed to be less crowded than expected. From Coliseum, we packed our school bus with 33-35 people and headed out on Greg’s Birthday Bus Trip Bash™.

What follows is covered in great detail within the podcast episode and I won’t attempt to type everything out in this recap. Carve out about 90 minutes, sit back, and enjoy.

Brian and Melissa go it alone in the precursor episode to our annual recap of Greg’s Birthday Bus Trip Bash™. Also, it’s time we had a chat, America.

    Feel The Joy

Brian and Melissa get things off to a shaky start while trying to remember the word anthropomorphize. All of this in regards to our coffee maker. Yes, reader, it is one of THOSE episodes.

    Previewing the Recap

In our upcoming episode, we will go over our recap of Greg’s Birthday Bus Trip Bash™. On this episode, we offer up some audio that was recorded on the actual bus trip. I will warn you that there is a lot of background noise on the accompanying audio. It’s definitely able to be listened to but it can be a little on the loud side. We apologize in advance for the quality and for Brian being drunk.

    On Public Assistance

    On Public Assistance

A few weeks ago, we discussed The Games People Play. On this episode of The Unadulterated BS Podcast, we are the people and the game is Public Assistance. Join us as we traverse the Able-Bodied Welfare Recipient Promenade in this special podcast edition.

    ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

Welcome to a very special edition of The Unadulterated BS Podcast. On this episode, we welcome in our friends and past podcast guests Beth, Greg, Craig and Simple Nate as we go bouncing between the Able-Bodied Welfare Recipient Promenade and the Working Person’s Rut in the game that asks “Why Bother Working for a Living?” On this episode, we sit down and play Public Assistance.

THE CUSTODIAN OF THE TAXPAYERS’ HARD-EARNED DOLLARS

This episode will be like none we have ever recorded. First of all, it’s a long podcast clocking in at over 90-minutes of gameplay. Second, we feature none of the normal segments that The Unadulterated BS Podcast is known for. Instead, this is a full 90-minute playing of Public Assistance.

Public Assistance is a board game created in 1980 by Hammerhead Enterprises, Inc. Needless to say, it’s politics are of a certain persuasion and you’ll hear that as we play. There are ideas and language in this game that are not the sort that’s heard often in 2018. So, be forewarned. We are playing the game precisely because it is offensive and to laugh at its expense.

For the gameplay, Brian will act as the custodian of the taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars while Melissa, Simple Nate, Craig and Greg will play this 2-4 player game. Beth steps in to help both the custodian and a few players throughout the 90-minutes.

There is an extensive rule reading in the early part of the recording. I know, despite reading them thoroughly, that we missed quite a few items. Feel free to send any glaring rules omissions to unadulteratedbs@gmail.com and we’ll discuss them in upcoming podcasts.

    PAYING THE TAX MAN

At the end of the night, we do have a winner. We won’t spoil it here in the podcast notes, but it’s an entertaining ride. Players gained and lost Illegitimate children to the Working Person’s Rut. Government jobs were claimed and lost by live-ins and spouses. Crimes were committed. Players engaged in prostitution, gambling, playing the lottery and either took advantage of the system or were taken advantage of by those on the Able-Bodied Welfare Recipient Promenade. Our winner managed to stay on the Able-Bodied Welfare Recipient Promenade for the bulk of the game and was able to escape tax-free. Other players were not so lucky. All-in-all, Public Assistance is a politically incorrect, complicated game with words printed too small on the game board and lots of different actions to keep track of. We actually had a pretty great time playing it.

Being that the game is almost impossible to find or extremely expensive if you do, we hope our play-through was able to give you a good enough peek at Public Assistance.

A special thank you to Robert who works with me at our day job for providing a copy of the game through his cousin. Without you, this episode wouldn’t exist.

We’ll be back with a regular episode of The Unadulterated BS Podcast next week!
