Love this pod!

So I’m a HUGE historical romance fan and recently found this podcast and a couple others that actually discuss them. I’m so late to the game because I had no clue lol. I just happened to search one day and here y’all were! Thank you SO much for discussing all of these books and our many book boyfriends. I’d be lost without my books so I’m just thrilled to have found others like me. And when you guys gush over a book I’ve loved (Zadist..mmmm!) I just squee inside. Love it!!

I’d prefer more special interest episodes

I appreciate the high sound quality and polished presentation of the podcast. I like an author interview as well as the next person, but in my opinion their most interesting episodes are their episodes on tangential but related topics to romance novels, and there simply aren’t enough of those episodes. My favorite episodes are as follows: Ep 4 Bea Koch Romance Novel Bookstore Owner, Ep 14 Sir Rucifer Pro Male Dom, Ep 17 Jennifer Prokop Representation in Romance, Ep 32 Kevin Kneupper Cockygate, and Ep 75 Lora Haddock Pleasure Tech Pioneer. The problem is that there are now 82 episodes, most of which are author interviews in sub-genres that I largely don’t read with authors that are largely traditionally published, which I read much less often than self-published authors. I was looking at all the episode titles, and I don’t believe that the Wicked Wallflowers have ever done an interview with a self-published sci-fi, paranormal, or fantasy romance author at all. Not one. That seems odd for a podcast that really seems to value inclusion and representation in their author interviews. They have interviewed 2-3 self-published authors, but those authors all write largely contemporary romance, with one interview being a self-published historical romance author by name of Rose Lerner, who seems to be one of the only self-published historical romance novelist that most romance novel podcasters interview. Unfortunately I largely stopped listening to the podcast except for occasional topics of interest because of this problem. However, mileage will inevitably vary for listeners on this issue.
