Special Episode - Leaked Options Development Group Draft Recommendations

Special Episode - Leaked Options Development Group Draft Recommendations

In this breaking news episode we speak to an anonymous Conversation Board member about the Department of Conservation's Options Development Group.  We talk about the group's controversial leaked draft recommendations and the potential implications for New Zealand's environment and native species.

The Options Development Group was established in late 2020 to make sure the partial reviews of the general policies are guided by perspectives and insights from te ao Māori at a national level. Our anonymous source is now alleging that the group is working outside of their remit and that the process has largely been kept behind closed doors.

The Department of Conservation was invited to appear on the show but declined our offer.

Excellent Adventures!

I am enjoying your podcast from Mt Shasta, CA. Great interview with Guy Cotter - I met him in while climbing in Yosemite many years ago, and he was as gracious and charming then as now. Next time you are in the US (assuming our Dear Orange One doesn’t kill us all and/or he doesn’t sell us out entirely to Russia), I will cheerfully be your guide. Keep up the great work - thank you!

Very enjoyable, interesting and inspiring

After stumbling across this podcast, it has become one of my favorites. Each episode has a new and intriguing guest. They recount their amazing tales and adventures and it is so fun to hear their stories. They even discuss favorite kit/pack items and ways for people to start having adventures of their own. It’s really inspired me to try new things and venture out into the wild. To say it has given me wanderlust is an understatement.
