There was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid... Following Jewish burial customs, Joseph bought a linen cloth, took Jesus down from the cross, wrapped him in the cloth with spices, and laid him in the tomb that had been carved out of rock. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed him. Joesph rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb, and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting in front of the tomb.” ~ combined Gospel accounts of Jesus burial "He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison." ~ 1 Peter 3:18-19 "What does 'he ascended' mean except that he also descended into the lower regions of the earth? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe." ~ Ephesians 4:9-10 Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven…" ~ the Apostles' Creed The Liminal Spaces Series is a contemplative journey through the Scriptures on the theme of wilderness, growth, and change. The Liminal Spaces playlist is available on Spotify.  16 Then Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified. The soldiers took Jesus prisoner. 17 Carrying his cross by himself, he went out to a place called Skull Place (in Aramaic, Golgotha). 18 That’s where they crucified him—and two others with him, one on each side and Jesus in the middle. .. 25 Jesus’ mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene stood near the cross. 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that time on, this disciple took her into his home... 28 After this, knowing that everything was already completed, in order to fulfill the scripture, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was nearby, so the soldiers soaked a sponge in it, placed it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30 When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, “It is completed.” Bowing his head, he gave up his life. ~ excerpts from John 19 The Liminal Spaces Series is a contemplative journey through the Scriptures on the theme of wilderness, growth, and change. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. 3 Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” 4 Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again! 6 I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life.
