138 episodes

A podcast from The Post and Courier about dining in the southeast and beyond. Hosted by Hanna Raskin and Robert Moss.

The show is released every Wednesday in conjunction with the food section. Unlike the printed page, though, it has theme music: To hear more from The Bluestone Ramblers, visit thebluestoneramblers.com.

About the name: The Winnow reflects the show's primary objective, which is to focus on the stuff that really matters. But it's also a tribute to Charleston's history of rice production: Fanner baskets, replicated in sweetgrass for visitors to buy as souvenirs, were originally designed to winnow rice grains.

Hanna Raskin is The Post and Courier’s food editor and chief critic; she also writes about regional food history and culture for Garden & Gun, Southern Living and Gravy.

In addition to contributing occasional features to The Post and Courier, Robert Moss is Southern Living's contributing barbecue editor and the Southern food correspondent for Serious Eats.

No one knows southern food like Hanna Raskin and Robert Moss.

Losing Robert Moss a huge bummer

Tuned in today and heard Robert Moss has left the Winnow. That’s a huge loss given his significant body of work on Southern food & culture & his regional knowledge. I fear the pod is experiencing the same identity crisis of the Charleston area. If you don’t have a regional focus or expertise, what is the role? I’m not going to tune in to hear whether your new writer from the northeast likes to drink with shrieking kids. I see zero added value at this point from him.
