03 - The Eagle and the Knight
From 1569 to 1795, Lithuania was joined to Poland in a single state, a multi-lingual, multi-cultural, multi-religious empire stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea – the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In this episode, we look at Lithuania’s role in this state and especially at the tale of its Orthodox Church, which in this period suffered a massive loss in an event known to history as the Unia.

Trailer - The Wolf and the Cross
On the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea, the little-known land of Lithuania stands at the edge of east and west. With an Orthodox Christian minority whose history reaches a thousand years into the past, Lithuania was the last pagan nation in Europe and once its largest country. Fr. Customer Reviews
Excellent content and production
I agree with previous reviewer huntz0r: the only podcast I am aware of that compares in terms of quality and quantity of content as well as quality and quantity of production is Fall of Civilizations. But, instead of a fall, the host is taking us on a thorough tour of Lithuanian history, religion and current daily life. Yes, Orthodox Christians will probably appreciate much of the more intricate religious details, but even so, there is plenty here for any student of history to appreciate, regardless of tradition.
Our Lady of the Gate of the Dawn
This production is of great value. So often the history we are given is from the English. This show sheds light on the tremendous influence the peoples of Eastern European heritage in giving Europe treasures of customs and traditions. This show should be edifying to all that will listen.
Very high quality documentary
Folk music, guest narrators, interviews, and a compelling historical journey narrated by our host. My great grandparents came from Lithuania at the turn of the 20th century, and I’ve always wanted to learn more. If you’re interested in this odd and deep culture, language, and nation, then please give this a listen!
