S2. Ep. 18 - Suzy Carroll, Busyness is a symptom for something else
Suzy Carroll is the founder of Sacred Selfishness(TM) - The Practice of Prioritizing Self. She was a successful entrepreneur who had reached her max, completely burned out and suffered from adrenal fatigue after juggling it all for 20 years. After a friend told her that she was addicted to “busyness,” she sold her business and took a year-long sabbatical. In this "Year of No,” she learned how to unwind from over-busy habits and determine why she was pushing herself at the expense of her well-being. Three years of learning, researching, and interviewing ambitious women resulted in 165 pages of qualitative data and Sacred Selfishness(TM) - The Practice of Prioritizing Self: The Antidote to Overwhelm, that she now shares with her coaching clients.
Listen in as Suzy tells us her journey of how she went from being an Advertising Director of a newspaper to owning a retail health store and completely draining her adrenals and how she came out on the other side.
We dive deep into how she wired her brain for busyness, and her discovery that it was a way to avoid her fear of failure. She shares with us her results from interviewing a large sample of women and the one thing we all have in common; how us being nourishers by nature is also the trait that trips us up; how it takes a health and emotional challenge for us to change; and how we all struggle with relaxing. Suzy shares some great nuggets with us on the 5 stages of busyness, her magic rule of 3, and how to soul-care instead of self-care to avoid overwhelm.
