The YALLcast YALL Texas AFL-CIO

On this week's episode of the YALLcast we talk to Unite Here's Austin organizer Alieen Bazan. She tells us about growing up in the valley, struggling, and having to work multiple jobs. She talks about her time at the University of Texas at Austin. Then we talk about how she got involved in Unite Here and organizing airport and hotel works. 

On this week's episode of the YALLcast we have a good friend of mine Ryan Pollock. Ryan tells us about how he got into the labor movement and made changes from the inside. I really enjoyed this episode because his story flows so well. Ryan talks about his time in the open shops, how he grew into the labor movement, and how he is changing policy now. 

It June and that means Pride! and we are so excited to have the national director of Pride At Work, Jerame Davis. Jerame talks about how he got into the labor movement and why LBGTQ rights are important to him. We dive in to his amazing backstory and his fight. Then we discuss current hot button national issues such as trans-sports and the supreme court, and to wrap it up we finish by having an amazing lighting round.

This weeks episode we have a great member of the Texas AFL-CIO team, Amber Jones. Amber came to us a summer intern and they liked her to much they hired her as a staff member! We talk about what it's like working at the AFL-CIO, and how it changed her outlook on politics. We also talk about her new endeavor in going to grad school!  

And we are back! This week we talk to Texas AFL-CIO's Digital Media guru, Madison White. Madison talks about her early career and community organizing. We talked about how different types of social media cater to different members and how we change our message to focus on those members. 

On this week's episode, We talk to San Antiono's Alliance's President, Alejandra Lopez. Alejandra tells about her story and her journey. Ms. Lopez teaches about what the alliance is all about.
