Darnell Oaks said about himself, "I became a teenage parent at the age of 19 and a single parent by the age of 21. I wrote about just that and everything that happened in between in my 2020 debuted ebook entitled "I Did That" later that year I begin life coaching under the great Tony Gaskins mentorship. In 2021 I found my purpose which is to empower single parents and rebuild broken families."

    Benediction- Episode 64

    Benediction- Episode 64

Today is the 1st day of Kwanzaa, Umoja, meaning unity- in the family, community, nation and race. Happy Kwanzaa.

We are one. We rise or fall together.

I choose rising. Today is my mentor Runyararo Fana birthday. I may have tears in my eyes because I cannot hug him, but I will and do honor him.

More than any person on the planet, he taught me the importance of unity, supporting one another, lifting one another, encouraging one another, working together as he would say to create Wakanda.

Almost every Saturday, he taught a class- a free class- on community, principles, love. It was called Conversations in African Culture, but it was Umoja in action.

He started with meditation, libations, then music. He brought and read from books. He talked about contemporaries and ancestors. Every class was focused on one or more principles.

I'd never been taught like that.

He did not call it Zennurgy, but Zennurgy incorporates all those things plus affirmations, vision boards, journaling, and breathing. https://www.amazon.com/Zennurgize-Your-Life-Zen-Ase/dp/B09MYXXCD2

He taught me. I continue his legacy.

Today, I release Benediction on my podcast. It's an episode dedicated to those we lost to Covid and during Covid.

I hope it helps unite us in reverence, in hope, in love. Https://linktr.ee/zenase

As Runyararo Fana would say Pamoja Tutashinda- Together we shall win.

    DIFERNT.

Born on December 15, 1990, in Houston, Texas, Fifth Ward she has overcome homelessness and foster care. She had a normal childhood until eleven; then her family ended up homeless. For the next three years, she would live in various places including: strangers’ houses; cars; parks; bus stops; shelters; and even a crack house. At age fourteen, she was placed in foster care and discovered that, in the State of Texas “foster kids” who aged out of care received free college tuition.

She is now an alumni of Sam Houston State University and a member of the Beta Theta Chapter of Phi Chi Theta. She graduated receiving her BA in International Business, with two minors in Economics & Business Communication, and her Master’s in Entrepreneurship. Difernt is also a Texas Real Estate Agent.

She has a love for traveling and has visited over fifty countries and participated in amateur kickboxing. Her hobbies include reading, journaling, watching "Shark Tank", meditating, biking, ATV riding, ziplining, and hanging out with her best friend—her nephew.

Difernt always knew she was meant for greatness, however, she understood to become the person she was meant to be—it would take fixing the issues that plagued her. She found the courage to do something about her depression and dismissed the notion that “black people don’t do therapy”. While

in therapy Difernt was encouraged to channel her negative experiences into a positive outcome. She quickly learned that with strategic planning, proper preparation, and constant prayer, she could manifest the life she was meant have—and wants others to do the same with their lives. Now at the age of thirty, realizing she

is not person she once was and by God’s Grace; Difernt is ready for the next adventure in her life-- publishing her first book.

It is with WHAT IF? A Controversial Paradigm Shift, Difernt hopes to inspire

individuals to have healthy conversations with others about systemic racism. It is her hypothesis that when we have these conversations about systemic racism and other taboo subjects then society can change for the better. Because when you know better, you do better.

Having, raising and maintaining standards in personal and professional life is important. Listen in for insights and inspiration on CRITERIA. from Zen Ase, the author of the best selling Zennurgize Your Life on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MYXXCD2

Here is more information about her guest, Bayou Beaux Beez who vends at the Rayford street Market on the first and third Sundays of each month.

Barbecue and grilling during family reunions and on the weekends were a way of life for Jeffrey “Beez” Beasley growing up in Zwolle, Louisiana. Today Jeff and his wife Keisha Beasley are carrying on the family tradition by creating creole grilling sauces, rubs, seasonings, and homemade desserts that demonstrate the best of Louisiana’s unique cuisine. Called BayouBeauxBeez, the products were launched as a family business and has established itself as a popular brand in only six months. “We’re so excited about how much people love our products. From the barbecue sauces to our homemade cakes, we have a broad customer base and people who look for us at many of the malls and markets where we sell.” Their love for cooking has long been admired at gatherings by their close family and friends where they grilled and shared their culinary talents. Old family recipes like creole chicken and sausage gumbo, stuffed bell peppers with creole crab dressing, grilled meats and fried catfish all made with their own special blend of creole seasonings were often a part of their family events for years. Recently both Jeff and Keisha were both oil and gas executives who were laid off from their jobs this year due to the pandemic. Instead of idly waiting for the industry to bounce back, they decided to launch their own business based on their love of cooking and their talents for making rubs, sauces and spices. They also added homemade cakes and cookies to their product list. Every sauce, rub, seasoning, and dessert that they create is a tribute to their family members. Some include Drea’sDry Jerk Seasoning, named after Jeff’s sister-in-law who often cooked her famous Jerked chicken when he was growing up. And Pearl’s Butter Pecan Cookies and Butter Cakes are Jeff’s mother’s recipe that have been a favorite in Zwolle at church gatherings. Jeff and Keisha aspire to open a restaurant someday. For now, they will continue creating bold creole sauces and seasoning blends for their customers around the world. More information about their products can be found at www.bayoubeaux.com and by following Bayou Beaux Beez on all social media platforms.
