Excellent WoT Book Club
I sampled thirteen other Wheel of Time podcasts and this one is bar far superior to all of them. I was shocked at the language used in other podcasts. WoT is not explicit like Game of Thrones. Why not be in character and use flaming and bloody instead? In this podcast, I heard one cuss word in four hours of commentary. (I’m a Navy vet - a literal sailor - I’m not a prude, I just think it detracts from the discussion). It’s obvious that the hosts are well-read in fantasy, they’re articulate, and they speak slowly and don’t talk over each other. I also love that all three are on different stages of the series. Bion’s perspective as a new reader is especially engaging. There’s been a few times I had the same thought and Tyler and Jesse discuss/explain without spoilers. I was going to wait until I listened to a few more episodes before posting my review, but it’s just too good and I want them to keep producing! Thank you so much for your insight, your real world analogies, your genre comparisons, your dry humor, and your wit. You had me at “this entire society are people that clown on monsters.”
These three are terrible.
They obviously hate the books and are more interested in displaying their own “moral superior” stances.
They make Nvneave, Egwene & Elayne reasonable. Rand, Mat & Perrin insightful.
Pure Dude Magic
As fond as I am of WOT, it is really nice to hear a non-binary perspective on the setting’s weird gender essentialism.
