19 - Digital Vaccine Passports, Roger Acquires Shaw and Lebron James's Empire
This week we discuss some exciting news around the state of vaccinations across the world. We are slowly but surely getting back to a normal future. We see Biden starting to deliver on his promises by raising tax mostly for the rich. Huge acquisition in the Canadian telecommunications market with Rogers acquiring Shaw for $26 billion while NFL is assignment new exclusive broadcasting rights to a familiar company - Amazon. We cap off the episode talking about some of the practical and potentially unethical implications of instating a digital vaccine passport. Welcome back to another week of Thought Bubble with Brady and Jonny! We also discussed the Texas power grid shutdown due to a major winter storm and how it happened in Texas and not anywhere else. For the debate topic this week, we chatted about the education sector, and questioned the needs and uses of professional schools in our society and whether or not self-studied professions could be viable across all occupations. 14 - Kuaishou $5B IPO, Myanmar Shuts Down Internet Country Wide and Canadian Trading Platforms
This episode we cover the largest IPO since Uber back in 2019, another Chinese social media app called Kuaishou completes a $5+ billion IPO in Hong Kong. More news in China and their insane rate of house building which is approximately 5 times more houses being built than America and Europe combined. Myanmar, a country in Southeast Asia shut down their internet country wide to prevent protestors from communicating. We cap it off with a hearty discussion of censorship - what are the implications of Donald Trump getting banned on Twitter?
