Thrift Therapy La Vee

LaVee and Marsh talk about their thrift adventures across January in Lisbon, Portugal...the first stop in their 2023-2024 World Tour of Thrift. You will learn about Humana Vintage, the huge discounts happening in January in Lisbon, garbage thrifting, and the general costs of eating in Lisbon (its cheap!). 



World Tour:  Thrift Therapy are going to be a different country each month or two and will thrift most of what they need in each location. This series will feature the details of thrifting for each location, including where to go, the pricing and selections available, as well as the cost of food, lodging and other travel information in case you find yourself in that neck of the woods one day.  Current Itenerary (subject to change of course):

This week I tell you about my most recent thrift trip finds, the problems with Anchor sponsorship due to changes since the pandemic, and I talk with Keyana Michel pronounced (Key-Yana) (Me-Shell). Key is a 29 year old resale fashion entrepreneur from Boston, Massachusetts. She runs are sale fashion media brand called Key To Fashion and the community organization Blacks Who Thrift, inspired by her Narts conference trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2017.

As a Black woman, what stuck with her was that "People were constantly telling me along my journey how 'Black people don’t thrift' and it’s something that we don’t do; and I knew that wasn’t true... I was so driven and motivated to create a community that looked like me, and loved thrifting just as much as I do. I was driven to create a movement."
