Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Great lineup of Guests
- Both hosts have several years of Amazon/Online selling experience & know-how combined.
Cons: ( I'm begging, please address these)
- The hosts keep the guests waiting for so long before they get to speak. Too much non-sensical rambling in the beginning and having their guests listen to it all and go through that ordeal - Very disrespectful to guests' time.
- Debra (the main host) keeps on interrupting the guests' flow of speech, and sometimes goes way off in tangent and several brain farts later forgets to bring back the conversation to where the guests' speech was interrupted. Makes me pull my hair, especially when the guests were about to say something important. When you invite people to your show, who most of the times have bigger businesses than you the hosts, your goal is to get as much information from them. Please let them speak. Timely introjections are ok, especially if it can further enlighten a very important but confusing topic.
Conclusion:
Despite all the nonsense, the listener can still get golden nuggets from the podcast. At first, I get so annoyed having to take in all the junk before the meat & potatoes. Now, I've gotten used to them. Sometimes, if it gets too unbearable, I just hit the 15 sec skip on my iphone several times until I hear the guests speak.
Being a new FBA seller, I have learned so much from this podcast. From what business tools to buy in getting started right, down to specific tips in preparing/shipping/listing products. And....Debra is getting better as the show progressed. She doesn't interrupt as much in the later episodes.
Thank you Debra for the podcast. I don't mind your thunderous "cackle" like the other listeners do. Laugh hard, it's the best medicine :-)
Thank you Charlene. Your wealth of Amazon knowledge has helped me tremendously starting out this FBA journey :-)
podcasts are not for you to talk about your day
if time is money, I just lost a lot of money. The hosts just ramble about their day. Zero useful information. I understand that podcasts are more lower budget, but you gotta draw the line somewhere, and listening to a few ladies talk about their day doesn't qualify as one.
Don't waste your time on this.
Thrifting for Profit - Needs to be revamped or ended
Thrifting for Profit (TFP) The Amazon Way is a painful exercise of listening to the hosts contradict and talk over each other. There is an obvious lack of scripting which leads to long rambling stretches that are a huge waste of time. Unfortunately, the hosts aren't organized in their presentation and end up being very disrespectful of their listeners' time. There are much better podcasts and other sources of information covering the same material that Thrifting for Profit - The Amazon Way attempts to cover that won't waste your valuable time or make you want to delete the podcast after the first couple of minutes. Bottom line - skip this podcast because there are much better ones.
