Tim Estes: AI and the Internet Kids Deserve

Most of the conversation about kids and technology is a conversation about keeping them off it. Tim Estes wants to talk about the other path: technology built so well that a child can actually use it safely. He has spent 25 years in artificial intelligence, from a startup he launched at 20 years old to work with the defense and intelligence community, Wall Street compliance, and the nonprofit Thorn, where the AI he helped build has been used to identify roughly 12,000 trafficked children in the US.

Then a 10-year-old named Nyla Anderson died after a viral challenge served to her by an algorithm, and Tim decided to build something different.
