“1  Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you. 2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. 3 While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.”

Warning Against Apostasy

In the early years of the church, liars arose—truth-twisters who deliberately rejected God’s word and the lordship of Christ and designed, instead, their own theology. The motive for these men was to gain power and money. 

It’s been said that Ecclesiastes is one of the strangest books in the Bible, and it is very, very different from the book of Proverbs.

If we try to read Ecclesiastes like Proverbs, treating individual verses as independent of each other and pulling them out of context, we can come up with some very “un-Bible-like” statements.

Ecclesiastes is very similar to Job in the respect that the answer to the search does not come until the end of the book, so we must persevere to the final chapter before we can hope to grasp what the author is truly saying to us about life.
