Toast It Up

Yuki Hayashi

What makes your day better? What brightens up your day? For me, it’s a conversation with others: my family, friends, or even with strangers that I happened to start talking to. On this podcast, hosted by a toast and croissant loving individual, Yuki Hayashi, I am sharing the stories from the interactions with others that I find inspiring and encouraging as well as funny and relaxing.

#30 (solo episode) Let's reflect on our new year's resolution in 2019 !

It is nearly the end of the year. How was 2019 for you ?   I imagine a lot of things have happened to all of you. For me, this year had a lot of changes in life. I have made some big decisions, such as living in France for one year.    As much importance it has to set a new target for the next year, I thought it would be equally important as well as a lot of fun to look back on what we have set ourselves to achieve at the start of 2019.    In today's episode, I will share some of the things I set myself as a target at the start of this year and make a comment on how I did.    I hope 2019 was a great year for all of you and I wish you all a very happy new year !    Let's make 2020 even more enjoyable and fruitful altogether :)    [Show breakdown] [0:20 - 2:40] How our goals change as we go through a lot of things.  [2:41 - 4:11] Comment on my 1st target : Top 16 or above in the ○○ competition [4:12 - 5:08] Comment on my 2nd target : Eat less ○○.  [5:09 - 5:38] Comment on my 3rd target : Brush up ○○ to a native level.  [5:39 -] Ending comments.   ### If you have any questions you would like me to ask people on the street or any professions you would like me to do the interview with, feel free to let me know ! ###   Contact me via: Instagram: Podcast account: @yuki.toastitup Personal account: @yuki.bboytoast Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/yukibboytoast/

#29 What science tells us about our climate inaction - interview with Professor Kate Jeffery

In today's episode, I am sharing an interview with Kate Jeffery, who is a neuroscientist. She is a professor at UCL (University College London) and also a climate activist.    During the interview, not only she introduced us the science behind why we are acting the we are, but she also shared with us her experiences of why she felt the need to take an action for a huge problem that we are facing today : climate change.    Show breakdown [2:57 - 5:09] What do you do at UCL as a professor ?  [5:09 - 9:16] What changes have you observed in London over the past 20 years in terms of climate ?  [9:17 - 11:13] What incident made you decide to take an action for climate change ? How do you contribute to the movement of Extinction Rebellion ? [11:14 - 13:49] How we prioritize immediate concerns over distant concerns.  [13:49 - 16:17] Certainty VS Uncertainty.  [16:18 - 19:39] Hidden risks and unintended consequences in taking an action.  [19:40 - 24:10] How our beliefs are not an accurate representation of the reality.  [24:11 - 27:48] Discussion as to whether people will change their behavior by just getting to know more of why we are acting the way we are.  One principle of Extinction Rebellion : No blaming and shaming.  [27:49 - 29:04] Where people can find more information about this matter.  [29:05 -] Ending comments.    Website "Scientits for Extinction Rebellion": https://www.scientistsforxr.earth/ A talk by Kate Jeffery at UCL (talk starts at 6:30) : https://youtu.be/aFqEYWH4-Qs   ### If you have any questions you would like me to ask people on the street or any professions you would like me to do the interview with, feel free to let me know ! ###   Contact me via: Instagram: Podcast account: @yuki.toastitup Personal account: @yuki.bboytoast Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/yukibboytoast/
