Bay Area sports fans are in for a treat when they listen to Tom Tolbert on their drive home each afternoon. There's probably no other talent who enjoys his job more than Tolbert, and you can hear that in his delivery. He’s calm, cool and smooth on the air. And while he can be brilliant with the hard hitting interviews, he'll also joke and laugh at the humor that is a major part of sports talk radio. A standout at the University of Arizona, Tom helped lead the Wildcats to a trip to the 1988 Final Four. Tom was a second round pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA draft, and had stints with the Clippers, Hornets and the Golden State Warriors. Tom joined KNBR in 1996, and he’s worked the 3p-7p time slot ever since. Tom is also the color announcer for all Warriors home games and has the fun job of interviewing Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, who was Tolbert's college teammate at Arizona.

Tolbert is all KNBR has!

I love Tom Tolbert. Lund is cool, I see him around town and he is a good guy and a solid broadcaster. The problem here is that KNBR only posts interviews. Lee Hammer must be pretty clueless here because Tom and John are at their best when they riff, rant, and entertain. The rest of the KNBR lineup appeals to nobody. Fitzgerald is a pompous arrogant jerk that I have not listened to since ever and he ruins local Warrior telecasts. The morning show is just a joke and Frandsen, my god. I don’t give a rip about your career, BRO. Tolbert is skilled at telling his anecdotes in the context of an average player. ‘Franny’ is also trying to convince me that he is relevant when his broadcasting skills are a lot like his MLB career.

Great show

Fun to hear the guys talk Bay Area sports without taking themselves to seriously- wishing they had more female guests - but still worth 5 stars if your a Bay Area sports fan!

I’ve been a Tolbert fan since his time at UA in the 80’s. The interviews are great. Two of my favorites are Steve Kerrrrr and Steve Young. The only problem with those two is the sketchy audio on their Sports Illustrated subscription gift cell phones.
