    Emotional Eating and Difficult Feelings

    Emotional Eating and Difficult Feelings

Difficult feelings and situations are a part of life. They’re a common reason that smart, busy women overeat, and they are often the things that throw a wrench into the best-laid intentions to make changes in how you eat or think about food.
What do you do with a feeling when you don’t know what to do (but you don’t want to eat everything in sight)? That’s the topic of this episode.
The go-to solutions when you’re busy or overwhelmed tend to be numbing out, avoiding, or powering through - and no surprise - they don’t work. At least for long.
Resolving to “not give in to emotional eating” isn’t a viable solution either - because not doing something, is not a strategy.
Try “not thinking about pink elephants” for a moment. How’d that work out?
Tune in to this episode where I’m covering ten things you can do with a feeling. Ten things you can really do. There’s even a free cheat sheet!

    Freedom from Overeating Step One

    Freedom from Overeating Step One

One of the heaviest parts of examining our struggles with food or with overeating can be the emotional baggage and the way we’ve been taught to approach thinking about and making changes. If you’ve been at this for a while, your plans to make changes may feel exhausting before you even embark on them.
Deprivation thinking messes with your mind and can lead you to create plans and goals and a way of treating yourself that are demotivating, overly reliant on being “disciplined” (which is exhausting), and quite likely to fail.
You may already know this. What you may not know is how to do things differently. How do you start making progress with your goals without falling right back into the same old patterns and ways of thinking that have never worked?
Listen to today’s episode to begin to rewire your brain to create a different approach. We’ll examine what this actually looks like in your life.

    Divorce Deprivation

    Divorce Deprivation

If you want to create freedom from overeating and peace with food, you have a puzzle to solve. Slapping on willpower doesn’t create lasting change - it only sets you up in a lasting battle to maintain self-control - and who wants to make this your lifetime mission?
Creating lasting change with your eating habits and your relationship with food begins with addressing your mindset - your thoughts and beliefs about the way that you talk with yourself about a number of things. The tricky part about mindset is that it can be hard to see. Our way of thinking is so familiar that it can simply feel like TRUTH. But thoughts are not facts. They are just thoughts.
Today I want to take a deep dive into a very common mindset issue for smart, busy women who overeat or who are stuck in patterns of emotional eating. And that’s deprivation thinking. Listen to the episode to get clear on what this is - and what to do about it.
What you’ll learn from this episode:
Why it’s important to transform your mindset if you want to end habits of overeating or emotional eatingWhat it means to divorce deprivationSigns that you are probably living in deprivation mode (and the consequences you’re probably experiencing)One reason you may be feeling unmotivated and burnt out and tired of trying to change your eating habitsThe power of creating transformation instead of relying on willpower and the difference between deprivation and transformation strategiesFeatured on the show:

Fantastic Life Tool

Dr. McCreery has incredible insight into emotional eating. Her podcast follows her other work in exploring emotions that lead smart, busy women to emotional eating. What are the hidden hungers you need to address before you tackle the actual hunger and eating? She guides listeners on how to be curious and compassionate with yourself as you learn and change. What supports can you put in place to be a success? I highly recommend this podcast and her others programs.
